Dude! COVID absofreakinglutely drove up prices. That's not even really debated by actual economists (despite mine and yours amazing ability to smack away at Google). When you shut down factories, ports, shipping, travel, and large YUGE parts of the dadgum global workforce, prices go up . ...supply drops sharply while demand eventually comes roaring back. That's literally what happened.

Now, can bad policy make inflation worse? Sure. Biden's additional spending probably added some fuel to the fire. But if this was ONLY about Biden policy then why did inflation spike across Europe & Canada too?

(I may regret typing this), But I actually agree with you on PPP abuse. That was a bipartisan dumpster fire. Tons of fraud, insider abuse & politically connected people getting rich off taxpayer OUR money. Still, though, that's different from proving inflation was uniquely "Biden-created" versus a global post-COVID economic shock (that we just happened to be part of).

You must be real upset with mayor pete for taking 3 months off during that supply chain and logistics crisis so him and his boyfriend could go buy some kids. Shame he didn't tell anyone he was going Mia or have any kind of back up plan during his absence to backfill his workload. I don't know about that. I was driving home from a client meeting yesterday morning, and had CNBC's Squawk Box on the radio. They were discussing the stock market reaching new highs, but noting that it is a "verry narrow rally." They said this rally is being driven almost exclusively by a small number of AI stocks. One of the commentators said that if you look at the VAST majority of publicly traded stocks, many of them are closer to their 52 week lows than 52 week highs, and that advances vs. declines in publicly traded stocks is heavily weighted toward the latter. "There is no good news out there, aside from AI stocks,." he concluded.

So if you are not holding much in the way of AI stocks, you are probably doing FAR less well than the leading stock market indicators (particularly the NASDAQ) might indicate.

Fair. My assumption was that most people have their 401ks invested in some kind of large indexed fund. If you are going to park your money in individual stocks, that is inherently risky. Can't disagree with that. I was merely reporting something I heard and found interesting. As much as I dislike Trump, I am not gonna root against the stock market and my own financial well being. But if the stock market DOES decline, a silver lining to it is that Trump is either gonna get pummeled for, at minimum, can't brag about a stock market rally.

I used to own a variety of individual stocks but, as I have gotten older, my risk tolerance has declined somewhat. I have a much greater share of my investments in mutual funds than I used to. (I still own a fair amount of Microsoft stock, however.) I don't own any individual AI stocks or crypto investments, either. Probably should have taken a bit of a flyer on them earlier on, but I can live with not having done so.
