The poll is STUPID and should be pulled down. People acting like JQ “quit” or “did UK dirty” need to stop pretending they know more than the literal medical staff and a head coach who spent four years in pre‑med and was accepted into multiple medical schools before choosing basketball.

Pope made the call to shut him down because he actually gives a damn about the kid’s NBA future. You don’t gamble a kid’s NBA career for a couple of college wins.

i think there were “some” issues after the St. John’s game with his knee and I also think though that he could have come back at some point and chose not too. Don’t think it would have made much of a difference. What do I mean by that.

Let’s say he waits another month to originally come back and is the explosive player he was against SJ the rest of the way. 2 extra wins? Maybe.

Hmm…I wonder how these doomers would feel if JQ was their son with a swollen surgically repaired knee with an NBA 1st round pick future in front of them. I bet you wouldn’t be making these stupid comments!

Probably so, but considering how close the SEC was until the final games- those two wins could've been the difference in avoiding the embarrassment on playing Wednesday morning in the SECT.

Idk if he did or didn't but I voted yes because after he "reinjured" his knee his loud mouth daddy started talking crap and we never heard another word from JQ so yea he did us dirty even if his injury was real.

JQ is a big boy. He could have spoken up and said something. He was all smiles and happy go lucky until Pope didn't let him play PG. His silence after sitting out struck me the wrong way.

Glad he's gone. Dirty or not dirty

Fair point but I think NCAA tournament wise. We’re looking at a 6 instead of a 7.

These young players are basically corporations now. Agents, CPAs, trainers, handlers, etc. Do I think the young man wanted to play more.....yes I do. But once he started getting that knee swelling, I think his team got in his ear and that was the end of his very brief UK playing time. They were worried about his NBA draft position.

Pope was the idiot for giving him millions to ride the bench and use the facilities all season, he was desperate he couldn’t get anyone else, it’s his calling card.
Not a fair statement “at the time”. You can say that today but at that time, it is completely false. He had his returning players. Two five stars and three portal recruits at the time.

People use that revisionist history to pile on because he got JQ a couple days after Michigan got Yaxel. You can call Pope desperate today but to do so referring to back then is silly.

I really do not blame JQ. He was no doubt injured and had a slow recovery. Could he have played more? Most likely! But as bad as that team was fundamentally, I'd have not risked my future for the "me ball" that was being played on a team that might ceiling at the S16 with me playing at less than 100%.

I blame Pope for signing a guy with that bad of an injury at the price we reportedly paid and the MBB department for trying to sell us on how fast of a healer JQ was going to be.

At least he helped us beat Prick and the Johnnies!

To let him off the hook for knee swelling is laughable. His knee was fine when his dad went public about how Pope was using him.

Then the knee started swelling.

UK got used.

There is no such thing as “pre-med”

There was definiley swelling and he wasnt same player after STJ so knee imo was injured. I think he could have played tbe last month but decded not to as he figured UK wasnt a legit threat an rather thsn re injuring or looking poorly he would protect his draft stock and focus on healing for career. Jmo i know nothing of the facts around this .

If the team wouldn't reslly work with him other than a team format like hes saying he has a legit complaint - however i got no way to tell if thats bs or not.

I'd tell him it's important to honor your commitments

The real issue is stay away from injured players. It's not worth the risk. Hopefully Pope learns from it and doesn't make that mistake again.

If I recall correctly he was singing a different tune about the St. John‘s game, even pushed to play, talked the coach into letting him play. The staff talked about how well his knee was doing. Everything was great. Then he looked really Bad against Alabama and Missouri. Dad got pissed and that was it. Sure as hell looked like he used Ky. Bottom line he was being exposed for having absolutely no offensive game outside of dunking the basketball. Shut it down and blame the knee.

Are you guys saying he didn’t look the same in the three games after the SJ game because the SJ game and the 20+ games at ASU were just “luck”. Or that he came out the next three games and just dogged it on purpose and watched his draft stock go down?

Not everything is black and white. I believe he eventually quit on his team AND he had issues with the knee after the SJ game. He didn’t even look like the same player.

To the point about his offense. That was no hidden secret and never the reason he was considered a lottery pick. I get your ticked off at him but come on guys. That’s just silly.

I do not know if he "quit" or not, but I must say I was very surprised at his play against Bellarmine ... but NONE of our BIGS played well in that game, which I thought was odd. Thank God for the game Kam Williams had ... !!

LOL, JQ is so full of s-hit in that interview. From the second he opened his mouth he was speaking what he was told to speak. Comical. He's a thief, not very good and didn't like the way he was being used in games, so he shut it down.

His Dad running his mouth pretty much set the narrative In motion.
