He will not make us a contender unless you are assuming we will contend for the upper half of the SEC and pray for a 6 or 7 seed in March.Any school he goes to becomes a contender

Almost, or tried, forgot about this. Kentucky and Pope were laughed at on the national stage for predictably quitting. Sad.He's not coming here. He was never coming here. His team wiped the floor with UK 2 months ago while laughing at us. He would never play for Pope.
I think you're on the wrong board. Do you know where you're at right now?Wrong board
His lists consists of Kentucky, Louisville and St. Johns.
If he wants to play for a contender you go with Rick Pitino.
If you want to play for a potential contender with the roster, you go with Louisville. Even though Pat Kelsey is still unproven
If you want to come for the big stage, probably play a system for your play than the others but play for a goofy guy who may or may not improve you, pick Kentucky.
Either way, the best scenario is he goes to UK.
Second best is he stays in draft so no one else gets him.
Worst case, its another massive Pope Whiff and goes to Louisville or St. Johns.
Oh, it’s adding up, however many of us, and I was one of those up until recently, haven’t accepted the reality of the situation yet…
And that is, the boosters either have not, or will not, give Pope the necessary $$$ to compete with the major NIL players in the sport!
It’s literally simple as that!
People here in Louisville say there's a big time donor that stepped up giving PK the money he wants, the word is they're trying to figure out if he's the right coach or not & this is the year he's gonna have to prove it, hence all the money. Matt Jones said UK didn't spend 22 million last year, said it wasn't even close to that, UK just let that story ride without saying either way, it backfired imo if they wanted to look like they did spend that much, kids used them as leverage for money from other schools this recruiting cycle because of the 22 million story.Kentucky the "poor state" that many doubted actually could afford a $22 million dollar roster last year is somehow allowing one city in that same state to outshine the entire state?
Something ain't adding up.
That’s the smart move. You spend enough to be a serious contender and you become relevant. The more you do that the more recruits will flock to you because you are relevant. After that you don’t have to spend as much. It takes some time but not forever. And if you’re going to be spending money anyway it makes sense to do it that way and have a higher quality product in the long run. Nothing our dumbass administration would understand even if we had a coach who could potentially leverage it. Not sustainable doesn’t necessarily mean they’re broke next year. In the meantime if it means they have to boot energy vampire programs like softball and golf that drain the coffers and don’t bring anything in, that’s also the smart move.On the local news today in Louisville, the UL AD was being asked about why they are spending all this money on buying players when UL and the athletic department are all running in the red.
The AD stated he felt the players should be paid and that going forward, this spending is not sustainable.
UL might enjoy this free spending this year for it seems the programs UL is cutting are screaming bloody murder over all this for ball players.
He just doesn’t have that killer mentality, not that I’ve seen at least. Why is Pope sitting there letting Louisville get every player on the market
We've all seen it. Not just BBN. The entire country. He just doesn’t have that killer mentality, not that I’ve seen at least.
I think you're on the wrong board. Do you know where you're at right now?
He’s got that arms folded, look at the scoreboard and hope mentality. He just doesn’t have that killer mentality, not that I’ve seen at least.
He's not coming here. He was never coming here. His team wiped the floor with UK 2 months ago while laughing at us. He would never play for Pope.
That is your opinion. If you're so smart tell me how Milan can make us a contender. Tell me how Pope will coach him and how he would fit in our system. I want to see if you know ball. And if you can't do this, you're a troll. You're an idiot if you think adding him does not make UK a contender.
St John's already has Freeman. Why they even considered?
My guess is Babacar and Freeman start for SJU. Pitino really whiffed at the 5 spot this offseason. My guess is if they spend big money anywhere the rest of the spring it’s at the 5 spot.Well, Momcilovic is a SF so Freeman would complement him at PF.
Solid list. Will likely get bigger if he withdraws. His lists consists of Kentucky, Louisville and St. Johns.
Hasn't made it to the Elite Eight in over a decade. If he wants to play for a contender you go with Rick Pitino.
Unproven is an understatement. One NCAA tournament win ever.If you want to play for a potential contender with the roster, you go with Louisville. Even though Pat Kelsey is still unproven
Amari and Kam Williams improved. Koby Brea improved tremendously. For as limited as he was at the 1, Aberdeen improved. Moreno improved despite taking over for BG and getting matched up with everyone else's best frontcourt. Chandler improved A TON. You could even argue Dioubate improved despite being a square peg.If you want to come for the big stage, probably play a system for your play than the others but play for a goofy guy who may or may not improve you, pick Kentucky.
I wouldn't hate it if he went to St. John's, tbh. If he went to the birty dirds, though, Louisville might actually get Pat Kelsey that second NCAA tournament win. That would be unfortunate.Either way, the best scenario is he goes to UK.
Second best is he stays in draft so no one else gets him.
Worst case, its another massive Pope Whiff and goes to Louisville or St. Johns.
If its so dumb then why did you comment on it? Some of you people expose your stupidity when you speak.Hope the OP gets a paycheck from UL and/or St John’s for this dumb thread.
Well, this is hyperbolic spin. They were one of the top defenses in the country and UK did not have a true PG. it was a nightmare, but it wasn’t a coach failing to figure out a simple half court trap.Imo this is a great point and not getting enough attention.
They absolutely killed us with a simple half court trap that Pope literally couldn't figure out. They literally had to be laughing at their good fortune of facing such incompetence. Remember, next game Barnes at it alive, because it isn't that hard to handle if you know what you're doing.
So if he legit want to play for a contender, we are not an actual threat to get him. Im
I don’t view Freeman as elite. Very good but not elite. The other three probably fall into the elite college player category.UK's roster (with Moreno) is definitely one player away from being a title contender in my opinion. Whether it was Stokes, Momcilovic, Wright, Freeman....that one elite scorer is what we are lacking with the rest of the team filled out as it is.
Freeman and Rob Wright are great and all but they’re not complete game changers imoI don’t view Freeman as elite. Very good but not elite. The other three probably fall into the elite college player category.
The fact that you think you make a point with this post confirms my original opinion. Thanks. If it’s so dumb then why did you comment on it? Some of you people expose your stupidity when you speak.
There are a handful of posters on here who think they should be able to control the narrative and what you should be able to post about on here. Rejected school crossing guard applicants. If its so dumb then why did you comment on it? Some of you people expose your stupidity when you speak.

I get we're down on Pope as a whole after last season, but I can't see how we're just completely disregarding the larger body of work. Yes, we SUCKED last year. Horrible roster management and weird sub patterns combined with our only legitimate PG going down kneecapped us. However, Pope can develop guys.
I wouldn't hate it if he went to St. John's, tbh. If he went to the birty dirds, though, Louisville might actually get Pat Kelsey that second NCAA tournament win. That would be unfortunate.
I disagree. He is a great spot-up shooter and can definitely help the team, but he's not a difference maker like others are who can shoot it and do other things as well.Any school he goes to becomes a contender
I don't think you have watched him play very much.I disagree. He is a great spot-up shooter and can definitely help the team, but he's not a difference maker like others are who can shoot it and do other things as well.

Do you not comprehend that this is a forum about discussions. If this discussion had no merit, then why am I responding to you on the second page of this thread? The fact that you think you make a point with this post confirms my original opinion. Thanks.
