No way we are getting another 5 with Hays and Heiden. We are good for 3 more years at that position.
I think a 5 should be a top priority in the 2027 recruiting class. She'd be coming in for Ava's senior and Layla's junior seasons and get to learn under both of them as a freshman, then be ready to go as a sophomore to split minutes with Layla
If no one transfers they are likely to only have 1-2 schollies so I suspect they will be very selective.

The entire landscape of college athletics has changed with free agency. Finding players willing to go through the development process without big $ and guaranteed playing time becomes a huge challenge. Likewise finding coaching staffs that are willing to take on the challenge of a developmental player while still focusing on winning now at a high level is not the norm. We can all hope this is a good find and a great addition down the road. The staff has no doubt devoted considerable time already and is committed to spending more time in the future with this recruit. There are more reasons to leave a team than just money and playing time. I would like to see some kind of analysis, but I don't know what to even ask. There are around 5,000 D1 players and 1,500 entered the portal. The last 200-300 portalistas probably aren't going to grab much or any cash, and most probably aren't going to see more playing time unless they go to a worse program. We have the luxury of agonizing about strong players, but what about the rest?

Thanks, when I saw a story, titled Campus Newcomer, I assumed she was here. Those redeyes are always tough. I did 12 from San Francisco to Atlanta over five months. I was glad when that project ended.

Campus newcomer articles are always a few days to a week or two before they arrive on campus.
Once they’re here I have to go through Iowa to talk to players. Same with baseball.
