Saban was a “bad fit”for LSU. Miles was a “bad fit” for LSU. Kelly was a “bad fit” for LSU. If you can win, they won’t care.
No he wasn’t (Saban). They need a hard nosed coach who does the little things right and simplifies things. That’s how they operate most efficiently.

Miles wasn’t too far off that (as far as style), he was just weird.

I will never root for ole Miss, but dear god does kiffin deserve to get his *** beat in that game
Nope ....not gonna follow down that rabbit hole regardless of right you are ....destruction of the plantation comes first above all else ....LSU will lose at least 3 other games so he will get exposed

Early returns say maybe he is. He beat the sec champion, almost beat the #2 team in the nation, & brought in a top portal class. And kept key players from transferring out. I really hope you’re right. But so far I’m not seeing it.
There will be no long term success with him. He acts and sounds like the typical successful defensive coach suddenly in over his head. Most low IQ, emotional, haggard looking guys can be successful on that side of the ball, but they usually aren't smart enough to be the administrative head of an entire organization. He fits in over there as their head coach about as well as Joe Lee Dunn and Ed O did. Orgeron was that his entire career until he finally stumbled into a position where he had a smart staff around him and he just let them do their thing. golding is too egotistical and desperate to prove he doesn't need Lane, so he can't approach it that way. My olemiss booster friends will admit it behind closed doors. They know he's an idiot, but think they can cover it up with recruiting.

Everything you listed was set up by Kiffin, plus (for now) the boosters who are willingly going along with the ruse that he's a good coach. They're hoping to buy enough good players to keep the momentum going. It will end, fairly quickly. Like the reb said above, it probably won't be this season (barring a season ending injury to one of those two guys), but by 2027-28 it will start to unravel. And the boosters are ready to pull the trigger and go get a real head coach whenever it starts to happen. They'll make a quick call and won't let it go too long.

We have GOT to put together a competent 7-8 win team this year that will be at the least a single digit point dog to them, and hang with them if not win. If we sputter to a 3-5 win season and they make the playoff again I just think that the degree of separation will be too much for us to bear.

Oh you mean like if Mullen were to leave here and come back and win on our field with a mediocre at best team? Like that kind of loss? That would be tough.
I mean, point taken, but that Florida team was pretty elite. Finished 10-3 and #6 in the country in the final rankings….NY6 team, destroyed Michigan and Harbaugh in the Sugar Bowl.

Purely for entertainment purposes, I hope Sept 19 is a blowout, and I don't care which way. If Kiffin gets his *** beat then watching the crawfishing of LSU folks will be hilarious, and if OM gets smacked then that's always a good time.

The worst thing will be a very tight, well fought game that ends up 24-23. Give me a 42-7 score please
