Yes, I am not sure why some have an issue with what Kiffin said. And I admit I read only what was linked, not the entire story. He just said the history of racism in the state of Mississippi hurt his ability to recruit. That doesn't reaIly seem controversial.
Sounds like an excuse to me; something that Kiffin excels at.

The real question that needs to be answered, "After Charlottesville, which state ordered the most confederate flags?"

The real answer is, more Confederate flags were sold in Pennsylvania afterwards than any other state in our country. So don't y'all
Get all pious on me.

Anyone familiar with Rising Sun ? As a teen , me and some friends heard there was a particular sign as you entered city limits. We couldn't believe it existed . We drove down there and saw it. Some of the most hardcore Civil War sentiment was at the Mason Dixon line. Pennsyltucky is very close by . One thing about the internet and expose knowledge is that all kinds of dysfunctional **** is coming out about 'murica . Maybe that's good .
Rising Sun was a notorious “sundown town”. Not surprised

There's a photo in the Smithsonian Museum of American History from the first half of the 20th century of several men in KKK robes riding on horseback that was taken in Rising Sun, MD. Hell, the grand dragon of MD's KKK lives in Rocky Ridge, MD and my wife and I were once approached at the stoplight in Taneytown, MD by KKK members on a recruitment drive. Pretty sobering encounter for me.

Proof it was performative--Kiffin saying it wasn't calculated means it was

Kiffin told On3 on Tuesday that his comments were not calculated.

"I really apologize if anybody at Ole Miss or in Mississippi was offended by that," Kiffin told On3. "In a four-hour interview [with Vanity Fair], I was asked a lot of questions on a lot of things, and Ole Miss has been wonderful to me and to my family. I was asked questions about the differences in recruiting, and I said a narrative that we battled there from some out-of-state Black parents and grandparents was not wanting their kid to move to Mississippi. That's a narrative that coaches have been fighting forever. It wasn't calculated by bringing it up."

It's not the comment--it's the insincerity of the comment
He knew the history of the state before he accepted the job. He stayed there for 6 seasons despite the alleged issues. Is it easier to recruit at LSU because they have less Confederate flags (maybe) or is it because of the money he can spend?
Kiffin only made the comments as a recruiting tactic--period.
I think it’s easier to recruit in Louisiana because historically those athletes seem to prefer to stay in state in higher percentages and particularly that school. That’s what has been reported here. Kids really dream of going to that school as young kids.
