It gets worse for Vrabel

Their relationship was obviously much more than a few booty calls. Russini's husband has to know she was emotionally attached to Vrabel and vice versa.

The denial of anything inappropriate followed by the drip drip of stories showing there was, in fact, something inappropriate HAS to be far worse than just coming out from the outset and admitting an affair.

Agreed. Would he lose the job if he just said he had an affair and moved on?

I don't see "happy ending" Kraft firing him. The entire organization is based on cheating. This will pass.
Exactly. Look at everything that organization has been under the microscope for over the years. All that matters is winning.

Another drip:

Fairly innocuous on its own but adds to the mounting body of evidence.
Two married people having an affair. This is about as common as rain in England. I fail to see the big story here.

The bottom line is, Vrabel is a hound dog and Russini is a slut. Neither of these things are illegal.

I guess it's a sad commentary that you don't see it as a big story.

Presumably, the NFL/Patriots care about it to some degree. I think the major factor here is not so much the affair (as awfully devastating as that is to the families, which is the real story) but that a married NFL head coach was having an affair with a married NFL reporter.

In reality, Vrabel is winning, so the Patriots won't really care.

Very public hound dog and slut with apparently no shame

I don't think it's a good thing, but I don't think it is national news worthy. I felt the same about the CEO and HR director being caught at the Coldplay concert. It was a huge story to their families, but it was one of millions of affairs had by married people I don't know. I don't know Vrabel or Russini or any of their families, so I really don't care about this. I don't approve of married people having affairs, but I don't see affairs as any sort of big new story unless money, jobs, promotions or favors are exchanged illegally due to the affair. Otherwise, they are personal matters the parties involved and their families need to address.

If Vrabel is doing his job at the level his employer expects him to do it, why would they care about him cheating on his wife? The same sentiment applies to Russini in my mind, although public image is more important in the media world.

I think from the media perspective, they argue it can compromise your impartiality in reporting. That said, I think the media take themselves way too seriously, particularly sports media. Sports media is unimportant.

But reality is, when you're a public figure, it'll always be a story. If they had just confessed at the outset, it probably would have put the issue to bed (no pun intended). The denials along with the drip drip are what's keeping it alive.

Part of it is people who are faithful want to see them publicly shamed and lose status. And people who just don't like the Patriots franchise also want to see something happen.

And Kraft just wants there to be a Happy Ending... for everyone.

It has been a long time since reporters acted impartially. They have no standards these days.
