Good thing ACC mlax only has 5 schools or else the committee would give them all 8 at-large bids…maybe even kick a team or two out to make more room…
I hope Maryland doesn't dumb-down their schedule as a result of this. I like that they play such a tough schedule, and feel like as a leader in the sport they should continue that. At the same time, I fully understand that we can't put 7-6 teams in the bracket. How dare they deny ND the #1 seed. After all this is the ESPN/ACC Lacrosse Tournament. If Maryland had played Duke's OOC schedule they'd have been a shoe-in, injuries and all.
That seems really obvious at this point. You don't get rewarded for playing a schedule like that. It's going to hurt OOC games moving forward. We simply didn't win enough games, and it was a historically bad year OOC for the B1G, but Brecht was right to look at the schedule. We play two power teams OOC in Princeton and Army. We are looking at adding one more, max. In an average Big Ten year, that's enough with what the committee values. The best thing they can do is lay out the criteria, whatever it is, very clearly. Let the coaches schedule accordingly from there.I hope Maryland doesn't dumb-down their schedule as a result of this. However, I think it was Quint K. who was posting or stating yesterday that if Duke gets in with their comically-weak season, it will change scheduling norms across the sport in the future. I kind of think he's right...

Would have liked to see some outrage during the selection show. Hearing Duke’s OOC schedule is weak and then seeing it are two different things = pathetic. They beat Denver by 1 at home and beat St. Joes. One legit Conference win (UNC) doesn’t make the tourney. But nobody cares because it’s “Dook” so they get into NCAAs and MD watches from the couch?!Duke in is crazy. They had a joke of an OOC schedule. They won one meaningful game and couldn’t even make their own conference tourney. Why play any good teams OOC?

Acc = ESPN property. They are not going to allow criticism of one of their products. The games are entirely on ESPN. A conflict of interest no doubt.
The Acc really needs to get another team. The reality is they aren’t even an NCAA recognized league. It’s hurting the game itself.
Duke not making their conference tourney but made the NCAAs is an outrage.
BC joining.
That’s often been said but BCU has never confirmed that from my understanding. There was an April 1 announcement of that’s what you are referring to but note the date.BC joining.

GT has often been looked at but they’ve not confirmed that either. On the B1G side, I’d look at Minnesota and MSU as schools with potential.
I play golf with a couple of alums of the program. There is some support and growing to reinstate the program. Michigan having a program helps the cause.MSU is another one who took a stab at it many years ago and dropped it. Didn't make the financial commitment.
what about Northwestern? With the success of their women's program over the years, the sport is popular thereThat’s often been said but BCU has never confirmed that from my understanding. There was an April 1 announcement of that’s what you are referring to but note the date.

At the Princeton complex for the little one. The men’s lax team is having an insanely intense practice right now. Awesome to watch.Natural reaction. Run up the score on some also rans. Imagine if their game with Richmond wasn't cancelled due to weather. Not sure we've seen a schedule like that before.
Without seeing it, I doubt it's any more intense than you find at any big time school. And today is Wednesday so think about this- this isn't the go hard day. That was yesterday. Today things start to wind down from a physical perspective. Tomorrow even more, then Friday is near 0.At the Princeton complex for the little one. They were doing this cool scrimmage drill. After 5 seconds or so 2 players (1 on each team) sprint out of the zone and to the other side of the field. While 2 players from the other side of the field (1 from each team) sprint into the zone. I have no context to this, but there was a lot of cheering and rooting going on.Without seeing it, I doubt it's any more intense than you find at any big time school. Half way there. ND has a game this weekend.Love to see Jacksonville get past Robert Morris and pull the upset in South Bend
Hard to say without seeing exactly what it is but sounds like a subbing drill which is a big part of modern day lacrosse. The guys practice much different than we did back in the day. Lots of small group breakouts and next to no standing around now. I was shocked when I first saw it. We were running and gunning back in those days and it was hard to comprehend how it all came together on game day when so little full field play took place. They were doing this cool scrimmage drill. I have a lot of Virginia lacrosse friends, and they are obviously crushed over this. Especially since MDW Final Four is at their place in a few weeks. That Georgetown Va game was ugly but entertaining. A lot of bad lacrosse being played on that field.
Go B1G. Only two teams, but both advanced...Hopkins wins 9-8 in OT after trailing 6-3 at the half.
I didn't see ND but Syracuse was fortunate to get by Yale. That Yale team is one to watch in the future. They have a ton of young talent. It was only a scrimmage but we ran them off the field. They clearly got much better as the season went on.
Duke may ironically be the last Acc team standing when it's all said and done.
This is a different Princeton team now. So is Penn St though. Should be a great match up.
