can't lie...

respect to cards pushing all their chips in like this and going big go home mentality.

I hope UK does this on year when we know we got a coach basically.

after last years 20 mil, i think our big money is hesitant this year to push for a big haul.

Kelsey isn't much of a coach and won't do anything either this season IMO.

How can Louisville spend more than Kentucky.?
Louisville has 10,000 less students - many more live off campus Too.
$1 Billion less in endowment funds.
Gets less from ACC than Ky does from SEC.

but Kelsey makes $2.5million less than Pope.

Boy if Louisville doesn’t atleast make a final four this year then they might as well axe the program. You literally can’t spend as much as they have and not win it all.
I bet they’re doing this to see if that midget Kelsey can actually win or if they need to fire him after this year

This is we should have done with Pope after not being able to win spending 2x more than the field

Anyone that is impressed or ‘scared’ about an OTE player must not know anything about that league. Another social media hooper, that’s all.

This the AI response when asked : "Did Mark Pope promote the 22 million dollar roster claim?

"No, Mark Pope did not promote the claim; he actively disputed it. In March 2026, Pope denied reports regarding the $22 million roster, specifically calling out media coverage as inaccurate and stating that only about 5% of reported NIL stories were factually correct. He further clarified that while the program spent significantly, he was "dumbfounded and befuddled" by the specific $22 million figure circulating in the press."

Makes sense for two reasons:

1) Testing Kelsey to see what he can do with it. If he bombs, doubt he sees it again. This is a ton of $$ - they may be 1.
2) Important to get your NIL & brand/coach attracting in the current climate and to gain momentum as a team that gets a real shot with any top player.

Tons of pressure on Kelsey. He's been given Fort Knox to buy the best portal team possible. He's got the number 1 portal player and another top 12 type kid. He better win - if they don't grab at least second in the ACC and a top 2-3 seed, year is a failure.

Thanks, I have never seen a public denial. This is a quote from him before the NCAAT: "In terms of the NIL situation, it might add some pressure to it. I think it definitely adds distraction. And it takes on — don’t want to get sidelined on a commentary about reporting — but I do think there’s a chance that accuracy in reporting has taken a massive, massive, massive, insane hit. On a daily basis, we read things and shake our heads, and we are like, ‘Man, I wonder if anyone actually believes this stuff.’"

He only said anything after getting roasted in mainstream media about it. The above doesn't constitute a denial to me.

Here's what my AI told me: "Pope’s Response: When asked about this figure, Mark Pope questioned the accuracy of the, stating that "everything is exaggerated," but did not completely deny that the number was high, acknowledging the "interesting world" of NIL.

It's almost as if AI is an echo chamber that reinforces our previously held views so it can lull us to sleep and suck us dry. And, unfortunately, not the pleasurable sucking either.

In any case, last year is old news now. Let's hope a few players orders of magnitude better than what's been added to this point show up on the roster.

Even if this is true, he could have disputed it as soon as the information came to light, not at end of season

Lmfao at having to ask AI a question like that that's easily available for you to find on your own

This guy well explains the problem with this recruit specifically and the Overtime Elite program generally:

His high scoring average is fool’s gold, the result of the OE program essentially trying to manufacture eye popping stats for social media attention. This kid is in for a rude awakening when he finally faces high level defense seriously meant to stop him.
