I’ve been saying since day 1 Zoom is better than Shelstad. It’s not even that close IMO, Shelstad is one of the most overrated players in the portal. Can’t shoot from anywhere on the court, terrible fit for PKs system too as is Bidunga. PK went for highest rated instead of fit and team building. Time will tell but I think they will end up worse this year than last.

There you have it folks. He's "been saying it." He's "been saying" lots of other things. This means Shelstad will go for 35 and "PK" will go 40-0. Biggest clown on this board. Thought you might still be out golfing with your insider buddy

You're half as smart as you think you are. Never used the word "plebe" in my life. As was stated, more than one of us thinks he's a moron. But keep lapping up his inane fake "inside" info.

Your point about Bidunga is fair, I’m not sure how he fits with Kelsey’s system.

However, characterizing Shelstad as someone who can’t shoot from anywhere seems like a stretch. He and Zoom have about the same true shooting percentages, with Shelstad’s 3pt% being dragged down by significantly more volume. He shot 38% on 5 3s a game as a sophomore. His 3pt% took a dip last year, but he was taking 8.8 3s a game and only played 12 games. At the end of the day Shelstad will have much more gravity at the three point line.

I’m glad we got Diallo because I like his size, length, and athleticism. And he’ll be good enough beyond the 3pt line for us I think, though he’s not nearly as established as Shelstad is in that area.

I hope you are right (and you very well may be) about Louisville having a worse year this year. Would love to see them flop after having such a highly rated class.

Considering he's never right about anything, you can take it to the bank that the exact opposite will happen. "PK" NCOTY, 40-0, Shelstad and Bidunga consensus AAs and co NPOY.

If you are looking for control of the game - Shelstad.
If you are looking at athleticism - Diallo.
Good take IMO. For me Shelstad is an above average PG who is inefficient at times offensively and undersized. He’s a former 4 star recruit who has played 3 years of college now and coming off an injury. Servicable but not a PG that leads a top 10 team. Whereas Diallo is also a former 4 star recruit who was a McDonald’s all American out of high school. Has good size and is a more complete player. He has only played two seasons with no injuries and played every game. Take the names away, look at the resume, efficiency numbers and overall statistics and it’s a no brainer Diallo every time. I’d love for anyone to show me a real argument for why Shelstad is better.

IMO a healthy Diallo will be a major upgrade over last year lol. Idgaf about Shelsted. UL doesn’t scare me.
Yes—A far better way to look at it.

As I said above, having seen them both play many times, I prefer Shelstad. But that’s because I think that Shelstad is quite good, and is not a knock on Diallo. Diallo is an athlete that can develop game savvy and has real upside. Not sure he’ll ever be an average outside shooter, but he’s athletic and can still develop in many areas.

you could not have watched Shelstad many times, because he missed many more games than he played.

He averaged over 32 mpg and didn’t miss a game both of the two preceding seasons. Last year he tore hand ligaments—he’s going to be 100% healthy for the start of next season

Oregon won 24 and then 25 games the seasons he was a full time player. Without him they fell apart.

It’s got nothing to do with Zoom Diallo; Shelstad happens to be a very very good college basketball player.

This was posted by Screwduke1 on another site. I'm not sure if he posts here anymore so I am putting it up over here.

Move over Hagler vs. Hearns, there's a new sheriff in town!!!

This is the ultimate win-win. Any team that has one of these special, special studs is going to be VERY EXTREMELY HAPPY!

They both have, what I like to call, "infectiousness." They love this game so much yes!!!

And they both HATE to lose. Despise it. I believe one of them was once hypnotized by their psychiatrist to try and find out their biggest subconscious fear, and after a three hour tortuous session he admitted his deepest fear was a fear of losing. Not even death. That was second. But first was being so afraid of losing. Apparently fear and drive together is the hidden secret sauce to superstardom. I'm gonna start incorporating asking recruits that at the in-home visits. "So Jimmy, are you both so afraid of losing that it dwarfs all of your other fears, but also so incredibly driven to be able to defeat that fear?" If they say, "Yes, coach, I am." Then I'll put a check mark next to their name in my notebook, and then I'll try to have them come to Kentucky.

Love you guys! Keep on keepin' on!!!

So you claim Zoom is better and use shooting as something you hold against Shelstad. 😂

Truth is neither one should be a start pg at UK. Well, in Zoom’s case I would be ok with it if the rest of the team could actually shoot.

You know there is more to shooting than shooting a 3 right? Zooms mid range game is elite. Shelstad is a playmaker but his offense is sub bar outside of his passing ability. We can agree to disagree but numbers don’t lie, they take opinions out of the equation so I’ll let them speak for themselves.

True—numbers don’t lie. In extensive floor time for both:

Diallo has an effective field goal % of 5.04.
Shelstad has an effective field goal % of 5.22.
  • Shelstad is significantly better
Diallo has an assist/turnover rate of about 1.5/1.
Shelstad has an assist/turnover rate of about 2.0/1.
  • Shelstad is better
Shelstad shoots it better from three and the line; they are about the same from 2pt fg.
  • Shelstad is better
Shelstad has twice as many steals per.
Diallo has twice as many rebounds.
