so zoom, wilkins, ousmane,mcbride, Kam, moreno, and Hawthorne are comparible to a Mac roster? Do you think Harris, Freeman, would made us better? both came from losing teams..

Yeah, I don't think he'll have any superstar talent, but I do believe he will have very good talent. Guys like Moreno, Wilkins, Zoom and N'Daiye might be better than we are giving them credit for.
But, this is what we want. I don't want another Cal situation, where overwhelming talent hides massive flaws the coach has. I want Pope to earn it, or get exposed for who he actually is.
I think he fully believes in his ideas and methods, so he's going to stick with them.

If you're not getting a top class in recruiting or the portal, better be able to coach a team up.

Zoom - Wilkins- Moreno - Hawthorne- Kam had offers from many top P4 schools including KU - UCLA - Louisville- Bama -Zags & Zona
With N’diaye & McBride & Morton we have a solid 8 rotation plus Potter - Noah - lil Mo & Lil Thorne for depth .

i dont know how good we will be but i do think if this is mark's last year, he at the very least assembled a roster mostly out of guys who on paper fits an offensive style he can run.

The Cal era brainwashed some of our fan base into being convinced we can't have a good basketball team without super stars. This could be a very good team if we add a decent back up center
Diallo, Wilkins and Moreno alone are a quality core. If you have your 5, your PG and then a second ballhandler in Wilkins, it's a solid start.

Talent wasn't last seasons main problem. They disliked each other; showed all over the court. Pope’s first experience with team drama; he didn't handle it well.
4 crafty guards. 2 returning wings. Need 2 additional big guys; can't go into season with 3. 1 stretch and 1 that likes a fight/screener.

No they wouldn’t make a big difference! Juke would get 20 a game but he wouldn’t help winning!! Graves and Momcilovic together would though! It’s like this roster was built for them to be part of. I like our pieces and think we have a good base, we just don’t have the talent to compete with the top teams as of right now. Graves seems all in on the draft, but money talks louder than want sometimes. We’ll see soon enough.
Dear Trolls!! I know he’s probably not going to land two big money guys like this, I’m just talking basketball and giving an opinion on who I think would make us a final four caliber team. We have room and we should be able to get the money for two more players, go out swinging!

The problem is that the coach has no idea on how to do that.
So they will be just like the last 2 teams. They will have nights where things click individually and they will look good.
The rest of the time they will be unprepared and lost. It remains to be seen if they will fold up tents like the last two teams when it gets tough.
My belief is that Pope will not be the coach for the whole season.

All I know is the team we have now isn't close to Florida or UT and a few other teams n sec and many teams n other conferences.

Momcilovic would absolutely upgrade the trajectory of next year. If Pope can get the Stokes money all back in line MM isn’t going to see 6 mil end of first rd or early second. Fit into style of play, opportunity, build his brand leading UK. All there for a very compelling offer.
If not, when NBA withdrawees come back into the fray we have that opportunity with a still good chunk of cash (3-4 mil?) to make a starter level add.
from there we need some upside realized by multiple players- Moreno, Hawthorne, Ndjaye, Zoom, Wilkins, Kam- can we get 3 guys into the all-conference tiers?

Well that checks out, looking at the way you post, you have the education level of an 8 year old.

I agree with this. The questions will be chemistry and system fit. There’s hope for this roster with another addition or two. There is talent.
Well, Zoom did come from a losing team as well, and Ousmane is a European player, and most of those guys aren't ready for the physical style of ball that is played in the US. Hawthorne is 100% unproven because he was not ready to play at all last year. Kam had TWO games of double digit scoring against P4 teams last year. Yes, he was injured when he was playing decent, but still no proof that he can bring it every night. We still don't know if Moreno is coming back. If he is guaranteed first round, I think he goes. Wilkins could be a breakout player for us. Just depends again, like Kam, if he can bring it every night. None of these players is chopped liver, but they are also not stud proven stars. Hopefully, for everyone, they work out, but I will take the wait and see approach instead of speaking in absolutes. Like most teams, if these players had an alpha dog stud or two around them, I believe they would be much better, but they don't, and I just don't think you can win at the level we all want without one or two of those types of talents on your roster.
It’s funny that we are treating this team like the Cleveland Indians in Major League. Hopefully we can have a story book ending and everyone is surprised that they aren’t as bad as we thought. It’s up to the players, they can either sink or swim!
I don't want to rag pope too hard, but he is a career 63 percent winning coach, I don't imagine he will ever exceed that here.
Pope's been getting hammered on this thread, but I gotta say, if he get Momcilivic and Moreno comes back, our starting lineup is legit. It's better than the 24/25 team.
Just need to hope the guys stay healthy.
I have not seen many if any MAC rosters with 2 McDonalds All Americans in the starting lineup before.
