My uncle used to work there back in the 1980s and would bring home some random cool stuff. Still have a lot of old beer steins for events like St Patrick's Day and used to get some Spuds McKenzie and Clydesdale type things. Also remember getting pretzels and peanuts from there, back when I think it was from Eagle Snacks.
It's been in the works to finalize the sale for a while as Spanky said, but will personally have fond memories of the place and trips to Busch Gardens that we got to go on in Virginia and Florida.

this started under Corzine. The top 50 employers told him that if he didn't change the tax and regulatory direction (of which he pushed harder) then they would leave. Within 10yrs of that, less than 30 remain.
in the early 90s, NJ was one of the most business friendly and by 2010 was in bottom 5 where we still are.

he was bad for NJ financially, wasn't great at GS leading them to have to forgo private to public brand which ultimately led them to having to become managed bank in 08 and ran MF Global into the ground
let's not forget rolling NJ aid back to 90s levels either

Ballantine and Krueger were also in Newark, both families had mansions in the city. One of the Ballantine houses is still there as part of the Newark Museum on Washington Street. The Krueger mansion was Ali there back in the 90’s, but in poor shape, probably torn down by now.

heading to our place in Florida Monday night. I've got another year until my youngest graduates and heads off to college and then I'm done...... shooting, boating, lounging, traveling....done!!!!! I am sick and tired of paying NY and NJ taxes.
Arizona is OK too, but there is state income tax. Here now.
I'll be honest, unless there is a big change in approach by the school and demand for accountability and winning from the top down, my time supporting RU is fast nearing it's end. I've given play, money, definable support to alums, free time in numerous ways and more and the school just continues to trip itself up in almost every conceivable way. I think my future monies and the like will go to my kid's schools in their names. Rita Mae Brown said it best....
We need to start an AZ thread (and best places to retire). A lot of us see this on the horizon.
beautiful state, my only issue is being land locked. I grew up on the shore, surfing, fishing, boating etc., I don't think I could ever be far from the ocean. I have lived in a land locked state and it's 'unsettling' to me lol

A real estate developer based in Australia is investing $360 million to buy 87 acres of land in New Jersey. Roughly $100 million will be spent on demolition. Then, $500 million or so will be invested to build warehouses or if data centers then more than $1 billion.
This is a HUGE positive for New Jersey.

AZ would be a second house option (likely for winter months while the primary house is still on the east coast shoreline).
So true. I lived in Scottsdale for 3 years, never really liked it. I am back in NJ for wife’s work. Bought a place in Florida too & can’t wait for her to leave.
A relative said the same to us when we bought the place, and we almost said- good!
Grew up living on the Manasquan River, always had a boat and could ride a bike to the beach. Have that again, but with kids grown, we have not gone to beach since 2020. We go out on our boat instead.
We had different issues with Florida, mostly the relentless heat and humidity coupled with the hurricane threat. Then there are the bugs and alligators. We love visiting Florida, but don't think we could call it home.
Northern Arizona between Flagstaff and Prescott has lots of hiking, mountain biking and great weather. It gets hot a few months in the summer, but it cools off in the evening and most mornings are pleasant. There are swimming and fishing spots, not the ocean or like Florida, but it works for a lot of people.
