Maybe some of you who jump on every new poster could understand not everyone has to think things are perfect to be a good contributor
I'm not upset. I feel sorry for you stuck online sticking up for coaches. What a sad life. I hope it gets better so you can refrain from being an ***.

Nobody gives a s*** what you think.

You'll be on here bitching every week All Summer Long.
Yes because you are epitome of graciousness and not jumping down other peoples throats on this board LOL, and for reference sake this was 2 weeks ago. If you read I even put an edit and apologized. Jeez, some people need to get a life.

The connection for likes also has to do with a poster's view, negative or positive. Rag on Jan, get some likes, stand up for Jen get some likes.
That's such a narrow, short period of time, view.

Completely understand why you would see things that way.

Congrats!

Intel seems that they are entertaining filling spots of what's left to fill out a roster with some mid major athletes. (i.e. McCowan). They also continue to look for one year commitments that fill a need. Also, open to some younger, previously highly rated high school athletes who haven't had much success thus far at the collegiate level but still have promise. So, in other words, they need, at minimum 4 players and the net has been spread wide.
We haven't heard anything about targets or visits for many days. Have you heard anything? Please share with us.

As of now we won't hear anything for a week. Supposedly there was some mutual interest in a PF, of which there are very few remaining. Up to this point no progress on that front. There was a guard last week we had interest in that committed to another B1G school. Still ample players to fill the final bench spots.

Not everyone thinks that. When people jump in and say "oh, man hands can't recruit, " or " maybe if she didn't clap so much and wasn't so encouraging " we would be better off. That's an agenda. 100%. With probably the 5th or 6th most talented roster in the Big Ten last year she lead the team to a 2nd place finish and a number 2 seed in the dance. To say she can't recruit when she's brought in a top 5 Freshman in the country, the highest rated player we've EVER had besides CC and now also brought in a top 5 portal player from an SEC school is huge. Yes, we underachieved in the tournament. Clearly. We looked tired and worn down, and our lack of bench hurt us. You want to put that on her I'm ok with that. But over 34 games that team and her accomplished a lot. And by almost all accounts we look to be a top 10 team next year as well. If you have legitimate concerns about her people will listen. If you're here to talk **** just to talk **** it's coming back at you.

It isn’t difficult to ascertain which posters have a one-sided agenda. Also, defending the Iowa coaches against unreasonable attacks does not constitute an agenda.

People have credited JJ with getting Addie Deal to Iowa.

Exactly what part of Deal's game was the draw???
Her defense was below average.
Her 3 pt shooting was not good.
Not a great rebounder.
Her passing was the only part of her game even close to average.

If high school recruiting is not Jensen's strength, depending on the portal and $$$ availability is a big risk.
Fortunately, after last season's debacle, I think the expectations with MW have been tempered a bit.
Pretty sure Beth has given JJ a long leash for the obvious reasons, but will fans be patient?

Complaining about not getting past the Sweet 32?
Iowa's loss was the biggest upset of the entire 2026 WBB tournament.
Not great publicly for a program.

If I'm not mistaken, Deal said in an interview that she asked her agent to contact Iowa during the Bluder era, saying she wanted to be recruited by them. No coach would say no to a 5-star recruit who wants to play on their team, not even Geno or Dawn Staley, who already have 7 to 10 5-star recruits on their team, much less Iowa, which didn't have any and in 20 years has only recruited two 5-star recruits before Addie Deal. Not every 5-star recruit has an immediate impact, and some of them don't have a career that justifies their 5-star ranking status, yet nobody says no to any of them.

What are the teams in practice with Iowa playing 5 on 4?
I've been clear they need to add 2-3 more players, (which I think they will), BUT the issue really isn't practice for the most part anyway. Most of the time they practice against the grey squad of males managers and they rotate the roster through positions so they all get work in.

Paulina Paris entered the transfer portal as a grad transfer. I don't know if she entered just for enter and is wasting time making this announcement, or if she can get another year. I really don't know, I only know that she's still on the Transfer Portal.

I believe these forward/guards are still available --

Jada Crawshaw from Australia
Erica Finney from Australia
Georgia Ferguson from Canada
Truitt Reilly from San Diego
Aaliyah Roberson from TCU
Charlotte Tuhy from American

Surely one of these women would be suitable for the 9,10 or 11 spot.

Good options. I don't know if it would still be possible to find a true PG that could play for 10-15 minutes, but it would be smart to do that don't force Chit Chat to play 34 mpg for another season.

McDonald’s All-American selection, 2X Orange County CA Player of the Year, ESPN Top 20 recruit — Deal was a prized recruit and to argue otherwise is foolish.

Deal’s freshman year in the Big Ten was less than stellar. Even though she received multiple B10 honors, her play was sometimes rough and mostly inconsistent …..just like almost every other freshman making a transition to a higher level of competition.

It is way too early to make any sweeping conclusions about how her college career will turn out. I wish it would have worked out at Iowa.

The only issue with Deal is that people expected her to come in and play like Clark. Addie Deal is a wing, not a PG. She was a top 20 recruit, not a Top 5 recruit.

In WBB, rankings are like earthquakes. With each “tier” of recruit, the magnitude changes. A top 5 player (CC22) is usually a *lot* better than a Top 20 player. A top 20 player (Deal) is usually a *lot* better than a Top 50 player. A top 50 player (Stuelke) is usually quite a bit better than a Top 100 player (McCabe). Take a look at the 2020 HS rankings — we all know the Top 5 players and they all had a lot of success. Outside the Top 5, names become a lot less familiar. Same with the class of 2022 to some extent.

Deal wasn’t stellar as a freshman but she will be a productive player. She can play 1-4. She is 6’0 and can rebound well. Her game is more like Sydney Parrish or Avery Howellthan CC22 or JuJu Watkins. She has a well rounded skillset and a sturdy build as well.

The bottom line is that outside those 5 or so players in each class, no one should be judged by their freshman year. That is rly the only level of player that can come in and take over a Top 15 team as a freshman. I’ll be shocked if she is shooting under 35% from
3 this year. I could see her with a triple double at some point as well.

The real question at this point is whether Woliczko (ranked either 6 or 7 by basically every major ranking service) will be such a player. Hopefully she is one of those few players who can hit the ground running. She might be able to do it with her rebounding (if she can rebound as well as Hannah did as a freshman I’ll be pleased) but ESPN comp’d her game to that of Darianna Littlepage-Buggs at Baylor, who just went undrafted…

Too many have looked at what Deal did in her first year instead of what she may do in her next three. I for one would have liked to have her here going forward.
I think most people probably agree with you but Deal, her parents and her agent decided otherwise. So instead we ended up with a 1st team all SEC player. I like the trade off.

Correct. This was a no brainer. Iowa got a proven All B1G quality player to replace someone who will improve but more than likely won't ever reach that level of productivity, let alone over the course of the next few months.

So, thanks to the Portal we got Lucy, replace Guyton for Chit Chat, Deal for Dani Carnegie, and since Iowa couldn't recruit any guard in HS, signed Amari Whiting to fill in for Kyle and McCabe. Well, if the Portal didn't exist, would have very serious problems, because Iowa is improving the team with the Portal, in a way that they can't do just through recruitment.

UCLA, 4 key players on Championship team,3 drafted in first round of WNBA draft, Transfers. Guess UCLA just can’t do it with H.S. recruiting.

S.Carolina, final four team, 2 key starters transfers selected in WNBA draft. Seems they used the portal to improve the team.

Uconn, final four, transfers, 1, starter other 6th player In rotation

Texas, final four, 4 transfers on roster

Iowa is far from unique in using the portal to fill needs. All the teams listed above apparently felt just using H.S. talent wouldn’t get them to their ultimate goal. It’s a different landscape in regard to roster building.

But is anyone saying that Iowa is the only team that uses the Transfer Portal to improve the team or to fill needs? I haven't read that anywhere, and I didn't write that either. I'm just saying that the Transfer Portal is much more of a solution for Iowa than a problem. We could live without the girls who left through the Portal, but if we hadn't hired the girls we hired through the Portal, we would have enormous problems that we couldn't solve just with the HS recruitiment.
