His admission beat me to it. I was going to say he must have been a teacher or counselor; that was obviously a good career choice for him. I wouldn't have been well suited teaching youth in a classroom. I'm rather certain he wouldn't have succeeded in a competitive environment where individual performance is measured, and product/service results are critical. He can hand out stars to the coaching staff, but I want to see excellence.
Actually, I succeeded in both! I did not teach my whole life.

I guarantee you I would have kicked your *** if I chose your path. There as no one more competitive than me in athletics, and that is why I enjoyed competing so much. No one ever enjoyed lining up across from me, even if they eventually outplayed me. In my case, I eventually outgrew it.

Your disdain for teachers could not be more obvious. We teachers who have dealt with this our whole lives totally understand your rationale. I never handed out "stars", but you are welcome to continue holding this simplistic view of real teaching.

I don't expect either of you to give me any real respect, but I guess the feeling is reciprocal.

I apologize for the egotistical portion of my posts. I am proud of how many people I positively affected in my jobs, so I tend to get carried away.

For me, I am at peace with myself knowing I had a positive influence on so many people. You have different values, so my experience is obviously meaningless to you.

I need to quit responding here, because I am too proud of what I did, and most people don't care.

Not sure what the original topic was, but I am hoping for success of RU wrestling with Zinn providing that extra "punch needed to move us up the ladder.

This is the most obviously condescending and stupid post you have made yet. Where the eff do you get off passing judgement on a person like this? You have zero information supporting your bone-headed and stupid analysis of Loyal-Son's life and career. Do us all a favor and just please go away.

You do not have to defend yourself to a clueless, self-aggrandizing, condescending a*****e like that.

Well said and who gives a rat's *** what others think. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I'll leave it at that. For you Loyal, you made your stance and explained how you have lived life based on your principles, which are commendable. Next drink is on me.

Wow, it has become really quiet all of a sudden. I watched the few videos that YouTube has of Jake Clayton wrestling. I will admit that he looks very strong and appears aggressive. I hope his supporters here are right and he applies himself and develops. I hope he gets the attention he will need. We'll see. It would help if Rutgers had a better record of developing wrestlers, and I'm not talking about transfers who come in and do well.

On the subject of negativity, it can be as useless as misplaced positivity. However, nothing is ever improved if its deficiencies aren't identified and addressed. That is the case here. I joined this forum years ago after just watching for many years. Look back at my early posts, and you will see that the issues I raised then are now being recognized by more fans.

I will admit that I am more focused on the negative. I have been institutionalized, in a sense, by my 30-year career. Throughout those three decades, I had numerous positions where I was responsible for the performance of systems and processes. I would have gotten nowhere if I didn't identify the sources of problems, and less-than-perfect performance, and make continuous improvements. I was being paid to fix things. It was satisfying to recognize improvements and good performance, but critical to keep it. Consequently, I have always concentrated on opportunities for improvement. Excuses don't work. Half measures aren't enough. I can't change Rutgers, so I can only point to the problems or opportunities and hope someone, someday, might notice. Some good things have happened recently, but there is much more to do. So far, Kelly Zinn has said some good things and done some good things. One opportunity was missed. Some pending. Can't go halfway. Defending or making excuses for the status quo is useless.
You spew the most garbage nonsense that’s it’s actually difficult reading what you write. Someone who clearly loves the sound of their own voice.

I skipped posts after my last one in order to focus on this one.

I want to apologize for too much "bragging" in this thread. I strongly believe in "humility" and usually am able to practice a reasonable amount in most of my pursuits, but not here unfortunately.
I completely realize what a bad look it is, and I also know no one believes a "braggart" anyway. lol

I also for some reason cannot avoid acting like the "board police" at other times.

I hope to cut back to posts that address the issues only, but my self-control here seems so weak. No one admires my mental toughness here. lol

I have great hopes for this young man and am eager to see whether he is a "hidden gem" or someone who will have difficulty making a serious mark at RU.

a legend in his own mind, who most likely has never succeeded at anything
