Lots might not agree, but I don't think you (we) can put all of this on trump. You need votes from the house and Senate to get anything passed, and so far, the last few congresses have been dysfunctional. They spend too much time on solving problems that should be the easy ones and not enough on the difficult ones - like healthcare and immigration - just to name 2.
The other side of the equation though is the basic costs of healthcare. ..the costs just keep going higher and higher. I recently had eye surgery, 3 hours, and the bill was $37,000...that's insane. Granted, that when you actually see what medicare paid, the amount is more reasonable, but still...Our system doesn't make a great deal of sense, starting with what providers charge, what amount insurers actually pay, the lack of up front pricing information, the cost of insurance etc.
I'm not a "Medicare for all" person. I have already seen where hospitals dependent on Medicaid/Medicare are closing because the reimbursement rates just don't cover the basic costs of operations. Medicare for all will simply exacerbate the problem.
Anyway, I don't have a solution, but it would be nice if someone in position of authority, moved this to the top of the "to do" list. In my mind, spending time on a topic like this would pay significantly more dividends for the American people than some other issues.
