Don’t confuse the haters with facts. If ISU talent isn't comparable to PSU....why did we import virtually the entire ISU roster here?
Also, Big 12 competition does not match Big 10. There are a few massive holes in your arguements.

I will never understand your special kind of bias and stupidity but give you credit for your complete devotion to it.Horrible.
BGJ was just another BoT ploy to minimize Paterno.
Paterno should have retired 10 to 15 years sooner for sure. However, he was the victim of the worst scapegoating jobs I have witnessed in my soon to be 74 years living on this planet courtesy in large part to the cover your a**es BOT.Joe did that on his own. Should have retired 10 years earlier. Instead he waited til the chit hit the fan and was running for cover. Bot beat him to the punch.

Confirmed that I dislike Franklin and will dump on him when the opportunities present themselves? You betcha'.You just confirmed what brown said.

Sounds like something Scott would say.
No one was "raped" you azz.Joe was a victim of his own stupidity.
Kids got raped in the locker room. Someone was going to take a hit. Anyone who didn't see that coming was blind. Joe needed to keep his mouth shut and hire a good PR firm and lawyer from NYC. Joe was holding press Conferences on his front lawn and letting that dipchit scott do a lot of talking.
I think the Paterno camp's message should have been that Joe would always support any victim.or witness of any crime to go to the actual police. And no comment from.anyone named paterno.

That is accurate. If he’s referring to what McQuery saw, that was one of the charges dismissed. No one was "raped" you azz.
This is what they’re up against!I didn’t see anyone note that VT’s record is 9-26. Franklin will fit right in.
We're better now in many ways for firing Franklin.
I agree with your first paragraph here. No idea what the second paragraph is.There's no way you can make this remark in good faith. We COULD be better in EVERY way. We COULD be worse in EVERY way. Or some mixture of better and worse in various ways, and where the scale tips, no one knows. It's a complete unknown at this point.
We know, we know ... but you deserve better (and it's "insane" to suggest otherwise, as you explicitly noted). Of course you do. Now take your booze-infused lolli and sit in the corner while the adults speak, Veruca.
Agreed I would have ended after the first paragraph.I agree with your first paragraph here. No idea what the second paragraph is.
Let’s try this: It will be hard for Matt Campbell to do worse than having the #2 team in the nation and losing to a team that was winless and barely had a coaching staff when we played them.
Let me see. 68 teams are profiled. PSU ranks number 27, ISU ranks number 37. So out of the 68 teams, there is only a spread of 10. If we look at winning percentage, PSU is at 16/47 = 34.0%, ISU is at 14/48 = 29.2%. So given the relative perception and actual historical success of the two teams; ISU has over performed during the CFB playoff era and PSU has grossly underperformed. I ask you the same question you asked me. What REALLY good stuff have you been smoking? They aren’t? That must be some REALLY good stuff you are smoking.

That long. I’m not reading it. But if it’s any sort of a defense of Franklin last season it’s pointless. He deserved to be fired when he was. Not because of his career at Penn State, but because he didn’t show up last year."It will be hard for Matt Campbell to do worse than having the #2 team in the nation ..."
When your statement starts out like this, you should probably rethink the remainder of your post before you write it. Yes, last year was a complete poop-show, made much, much worse by the fact Franklin had created such incredibly high expectations ... you know ... by putting together an incredibly competitive and successful football program.
And made even worse, still, by a midseason firing of the head coach, when there was absolutely no real, effective plan in place to replace him. We have NO idea what would have happened, had Franklin been retained until the end of the year, at least ... he could have rallied the team to win out and at least regain some semblance of pride and optimism heading into next year, with a stud recruiting class (and, perhaps, transfers) coming in ... we could have spiraled out of control into something that was much worse than even what ended up happening. Instead, we were almost coachless. We lucked into this guy, and if you judged his teams by the same criteria you subjected Franklin to, he doesn't come out well. Just about every time ISU looked good during a season, they ended up falling apart later on.
I posted this before, but: In 2017, Campbell's squad beat a then 3rd-ranked squad, and a then 4th-ranked squad in the same season. Woohoo! Yeah, except they lost 4 games to unranked squads, and another game to a ranked squad, and ended up 7-5 and unranked. Multiple times (3) his teams had preseason top 25 hype and ended up unranked. They had a 3 year period where they were .500 overall, with 2 7-5 regular season records sandwiching a 4-8 campaign.
But, yeah ... we won't have to suffer through being preseason #2. So we got that going for us, which is nice.
------
As for the 2nd paragraph, that poster has been attacking Franklin for a long time ... even while we were one bone-headed play away from playing for the Natty. He was wishing for the guy's downfall, and has taken great pleasure in being a catty biznatch ever since. So he can go screw.
I liked Franklin. At the end of the year last year it may (or may not) have been time for him to go ... if he had lost the team and recruits ... you seriously, seriously consider it. But there's no reason to take great joy in the guy getting canned, since you've been after him like a jealous ex-girlfriend for years.
I like Campbell, too. And if anyone acts this way toward Campbell, I'll call them out on it, as well. I'm tired of the "we deserve better" non-fan fans.
The same amount of time it would have taken you to quickly read the post and realize there was no defense of last year, is the same amount of time you took to make a hypothetical rebuttal of an argument that was never made. That long. For the record, I don't predict greater success under HC Cambell. I am willing to wait and see what happens. Do count me in as somebody who is glad the BGJ is no longer the head coach. It has less to do with his record and more about the way he communicated to the interested public. It was a manner that over time just turned me off and I am glad that I no longer have to listen to him speak about the PSU program.
No, I didn't. You can't read. It was based on records versus ranked teams. You ignored who they played.
You win, congrats! The same amount of time it would have taken you to quickly read the post and realize there was no defense of last year, is the same amount of time you took to make a hypothetical rebuttal of an argument that was never made.
Sorry, what I read in your post is about 25 years of excuses and "hope" for the future. Just saying "we're better" because of a new coach who hasn't yet coached 1 game and was 50-40 in conference at his last stop isn't evidence.Prior to 2002 OSU’s last NC was 1970. Prior to 2021 Georgia’s was 1980. Michigan shared a title in 1997 but before 2023 their last NC was in the 40's. What is different about Penn State such that it makes more sense to just give up any hope of getting better and to be happy winning games against nobodies when our peer schools (and historically, they are peers) are doing what it takes to win? Why is just giving up better? Our fans are insane for this kind of thng but it's true what they say - people willing to settle for less often do. Glad Kraft did what he did and he should have done it three years ago. Penn State has been derailed by a legendary coach who held on too long, historic and unprecedented sanctions, and then a coach who hit his ceiling a number of years ago (and whose contract extension put Penn State in a difficult position). We're better now in many ways for firing Franklin. At least now there is the perception we're trying to get better.

The landscape of "college football" has changed radically and OSU, UM, Oregon, Indiana, USC are strong rivals (just in the Big Ten Conference alone) that PSU must contend with to reach "excellence at the highest level." After 25 years or so, I'm simply saying you are "what your record says you are." PSU fans should, IMO, enjoy the 10 and 11 win seasons. They occur often. More often than 85% of the competition. Instead, we pretend "we are better."
Will be edge of the seat action - for sure!I'm planning two. I hear its a great experience. It will be great to see the Pitt game.
Laughable…also physically impossible.Joe was a victim of his own stupidity.

Like several posters who frequent here, I had a brief career coaching high school football. If you are curious, message me and I'll give you the information you need to evaluate my "record" for yourself. Suffice it to say that I spent 16 years coaching high school football (the final 13 as a head coach) before going into athletic administration. I'm not sure why that is pertinent to you except that it does give me some appreciation of how skilled and talented a Division One HFC must be to secure one of about 138 jobs in the entire nation....now that doesn't rival the knowledge and experience it takes to be a message board fan and critic, I did learn in my experience that players, coaches and officials are not perfect. Only fans are omnipotent and omniscient. LOLDid you have a winning record? I suspect not.
It's a crowded field.Dumbest post so far this year.

Considering everything....available area talent, money for coaching, facilities, depth of roster, NIL, i think CMC did well! Are
