It’s been a bizarre April. Got so dry we had to stop planting.

Now May looks to be the opposite.
Been reading about a possible "super El Niño" but best I can gather it can cause drastic swings in the weather in basically ANY direction if it happens .......and that's what I love about the weather LOL.

Is it true that a not insignificant portion of global warming is caused by the flatulence of Ted Turner's bison herd?? Maybe he's been culling in his old age and that's causing the chill.

I know absolutely nothing about global warming or weather science, but I do know it being cool this weekend proves nothing and disproves nothing. It may be 92 in Portland on Sunday. That’s about 25 degrees above their average for this time of year. By the arguments on this board that proves global warming.

this thread was boring. Thought I would spice it up.

I had a geology professor in the late 80s/early 90s say the earth was getting warmer because we're coming out of an ice age (which takes 100s of thousands of years).

The earth getting colder should be much more of a concern than the earth getting warmer.
Or you could believe the Bible…

macro global equilibrium occuring, settling back down to seasonal norms, even though the magnetic fields have shifted...

It's been a really pleasant spring so far - March and April quite a bit warmer than normal, and May getting off to a coolish start. Would be nice if it lasted the rest of the month.

I’ll try to piss off everyone

1. There is climate change, some of it is a progressive warming from the last ice age, some of it is caused by man. Theres also no “normal” climate. The planet has been a slow steady flux since the beginning

2. Technology will be the key to slowing our effects on the environment but it needs to be done in a way that is beneficial and not constricting. Most current anti global warming policies are simply a tax cash grab that does very little to solve anything. Governments use fear to scare people but that line of thinking is not getting traction anymore.

3. This piggybacks off of No. 2 but we can’t just “stop” GW or climate change or whatever buzz word you want to use. The climate mitigations we use now just don’t do enough to make a difference. You want to make a difference get everyone to kill themselves and the planet will revert back in about a thousand years. Otherwise just learn to adapt to it.

The market will decide as it should. When it gets too expensive for fossil fuels someone will find a way. When people learn you can a full 340 mile charge for less than 10$ and you don’t have to drive they’ll make the switch

Yes and slowly maintaining equilibrium. The Al Gore fear mongering doesn't work anymore. The planet adjusts even for man. 😱. That fact will result in thousands of environmental jobs lost.

We had some neighbors move in from Cali in the Fall. They have been sitting on their back porch and soaking it in the past month. I didn’t have the heart to tell them the surface of the sun is coming for them in a month or so.

Equilibrium of what?
Planet Earth for billions of years through much much worse. The atmosphere, weather, temperature, warming, cooling. It's the only one that seems to have been able to do it, to our current knowledge. Perhaps aided by God for those that choose to believe.

Just need to keep the asteroids away

It seems you may be looking at actual science and observable data. Since I’m politically homeless, please accept this as a verbal accusation of your stupidity for some yet unknown reasons that my currently unformed political party does not support. As soon as my new party forms and generates my talking points I’ll relay them. I hope the wait isn’t too taxing on you.
