The people saying this roster as currently constructed being top 25 worthy at this point are either delusional, high, or the most optimistic people I’ve ever met.

Agree. I do love Wilkins but other than that hard to get excited.
I’m literally putting all my Faith in Wilkins and Hawthorne. Maybe Kam from game to game but he has shown to be very inconsistent.
The fact we paid Diallo the 2nd most NIL of any player ever says it all to me. He’s so desperate he has to pay mediocre guards that kind of money to play for him. I’m not sold on him being any kind of saving grace. Honestly on Paper Washington maybe had an equal to slightly higher upper talent roster than we do currently last year and they were bad bad.
People don’t understand how bad this could get. Imagine the games Wilkins/Diallo/Moreno don’t show or have bad games. Who is going to score really? Moreno had plenty of games toward the end or in high level games where he was relatively ineffective. He has a huge ceiling and I hope he takes the next step for sure. It’s just scary right now how little margin we have.
I’d say objectively. If I could bet on games in the SEC for next year. If it was just money line. UK will be huge underdogs at Missouri, at Texas, at Oklahoma, at Florida, Florida at Rupp, at Tennessee, at Vandy. That’s seven losses and we still have Alabama, Tennessee and Arkansas at home. If anyone thinks who we have now will withstand this and place top half of the conference is delusional, they just are.
We need to add a superstar scorer in the worst way right now.

If someone had told you at the beginning of the year we would go 10-8 in the SEC and finish 9th in the SEC standings you would have also said that was ridiculous. And before you throw out the injury nonsense we had a full roster for the first 2 SEC games and went 0-2 including a loss at home (a staple under pope).
Did not infer that it did. Those that are dissatisfied with his success or lack thereof as Head coach still should not call him a clown as it is an undeserved moniker.
He's getting paid the big bucks, forgive the fans if they're not quite sentimental when his coaching bonafides have jack all to do with the fact that he once played basketball here.
No clue but with how last years roster left and we’re tagging each other like “haha we know what’s up!” That’s scary. It’s definitely something that these players don’t relate to him at best.
Comprehesion apparently is not your strength. I never stated that the fact that he once played here had any bearing on any consideration of what one would deem as success or failure as the coach. He may or may not make it in that position, but he definitely is undeserving of being called a "clown". Especially by any so called fan of UK basketball.

Word spreads among agents, coaches, and players and their families when a coaching staff is dysfunctional, disorganized, or lacks the ability to develop and utilize talent.

100% agree. If we are final 4 good, then everyone is happy and Pope would probably have better recruiting results going forward. Bad season, and we get to hire a new coach. A fringe top 25 team and a win in the NCAA tournament would be almost the worst case scenario. Good enough that some people would be willing to give him another year, but not good enough to build any coaching credibility on his part. We would be stuck in this mess even longer.
