I was told today by someone that would probably know that the staff is in “full scramble” mode to add a wing. They have asked for part of the money that would have come out of the rev share for Stokes(not NIL deals) to be available to them for pursuit of a player. I assume a reclass or Momcilovic are the only ways the talent is significantly upgraded at this point.

That's the part people are conveniently ignoring. Even if our roster is decent by normal standards, it still has to be comparable to the absolutely stacked rosters in this NIL era in order for us to compete. Several teams will be loaded

Im probably harder on Pope than anybody but I want him to succeed so bad. I hate that he's in over his head. I wish he was killing it because he's one of ours. Makes me sad that he's failing. Wish I had a way to put some juice in his DNA give him some street cred or something.

Between the 2 of them, they had 4 double digit scoring games last year. Of course, they are all attributed to Kam because Hawthorne wasn't even good enough to play.

3 good guards? Who is the 3rd? Also, what have you seen of Diallo or Wilkens to know they will be good here?

Foreign players rarely have a major factor year one. O Nidaye is also 22 and just had a "breakout" year averaging 10ppg. What are you realistically expecting of him?

I’ve wanted Momcilovic over Stokes all along. He could instantly change my expectations from NIT to S16. I still don’t think it’s likely to be a great team, but if a couple of the unknowns pan out, maybe it can make a tourney run.

Incorrect. That was true last year. This money was set aside for the possibility of getting Stokes and came from the rev share, meaning it could be used for any sport. It seems it was around 5 million from that fund.

I agree with this, but if we can get a star to help us keep our all time lead, it’s probably worth getting the money together if he’s actually a difference maker. Pope or not, it’s too close to play around and not do everything for even two or three extra wins.

Pope knew he was just keeping on trying to salvage as many years as he could when the beginning of the second year happened and ge had no ability to use the brand to recruit. It’s not hard, Mark was not able to elevate himself with the brand which is what everyone involved in the hire was hoping. He was not able to do that. It’s why he took a broken 5 star who ended up backfiring. He had no options he was looking for recruiting momentum. It didn’t happen. That was the end. Now he’s holding out the GM role and next season will insert “massive changes” campaign to try and hold on to get as much money as possible. Mark will never coach in the power 5 so this is it. That’s all this is now.

I know you’re just the messenger here Rick so this isn’t directed towards you. If I’m the head coach, I’m not assuming anyone to anywhere if I want them and I can help it. Graves to LSU may happen but they’ll sure have to work harder than I would to let him go there because he could flat out make us a lot better. It would be Momcilovic #1, Graves then McNeil because after that, no one moves the needle enough to get the kind of money they want. My opinion of course but hard to see us getting any of these guys the way these guys are doing business.

I don’t think we need a “source“ to tell us that the staff is desperate to find a wing. That’s common knowledge for any fan that’s paying attention.
