Iowa should take a good look at Harris. Strong body, unbelievable shooting and the videos showed good passing. She is young and for this recruit only, I would use the Caitlin Clark phenomenon to help lure her in. She is young and would have two years to grow into the program's philosophy Perhaps, Aaron Woliczko might even be able to help, without violating any contractual items his present day position defines. I know Iowa is continuing to pursue Kaelyn Carroll as are other programs. In our business oriented semi pro basketball environment, I thought what if twenty five of us each sent Beth Goetz a ten thousand dollar check and in the memo designated, "buy another WBB player". Naturally this would be in addition to the monies many of us contribute already. Not sure if that would be legal, although in today's sport's world, everything seems to be legal.

Suspect Alabama will get 1st crack at her if they have roster room and NIL left to entice her.
Alabama may have tapped Wright for this reason to bring her along just like Jan did with Coach Boogie and CCW.
However, it does say her recruitment is open.

Yesterday Amy Wright resigned as WBB Head Coach at Long Beach State to join Alabama's coaching staff.
Sounds plausible.

Freshmen are definitely a wildcard and the season is unpredictable, but Journey was no worse than the 7th or 8th best player on the team all season. Once she proved her worth that's what her minutes reflected. If you look at the bottom 4 or 5 players on the team, they simply didn't play meaningful minutes.
Journey was the 9th or 10th in minutes played in 6 of the first 7 games. She certainly earned more time, but she demonstrated that the end of the bench can prove their value as the season continues.

Dude, they're going to add a few players. I would love to see a power forward that can play the 5 if necessary, but the important pieces are already in place. Expect any additional players to look more like the ones that left.
On the From The Hawkeye Of The Storm channel's live, a dude called in and said that this canadian PF visited and Iowa is looking for some girls from Europe because NIL rules and why they've already spent a lot on other signings. This guy also talked about a bizarre demand from Raegan McCowan that shocked everyone and made her signing impossible.

Without listening. Did they mention what the demand was?

She was never the end of the bench, but yeah, she definitely demonstrated early on that she belonged in the regular rotation. The end of the bench was occupied all year by Jada, Mallegni, Levin, and Johnson. I'm also not saying that it doesn't happen because it does
It's certainly more likely with a freshman early in the season where you haven't yet seen them against college competition. I think NIL plays a role in today's game too. Coaches are going to feel some pressure to provide more minutes to a player receiving more NIL dollars than if they weren't.

I agree that there is a difference in opportunity between freshies and returning players in the 9-15 range in terms of moving up in playing time. Without doing a deep dive into stats (in other words, pulling an answer out of my... nether regions), Affolter, Martin, and Marshall all went from deep bench to starters over their careers, but they did so slowly rather than suddenly leaping up from the end of the bench to scream, "Put me in, Coach," and instantly becoming a star.

As always, DISCLAIMERS: There could be errors in any of the above, but it is close to correct. I often don't know what I am talking about. I feel right at home on this forum.

Journey Houston wasn't before Mallegni by fans before the season began. Houston was seen as the 10th or 11th player by the vast majority. And the vast majority had much higher expectations for Mallegni. Maybe 7th or 8th player. And that's what we were talking about initially: the fans' expectations before the start of the season and the reality, which is often quite different when the season begins.

I wouldn't say fans are dumb because because we're all fans and I also don't think it's dumb to rank Journey Houston as the 10th or 11th player one year ago. That was the reality. That was almost everyone's opinion. In fact, there were doubts about whether she would be able to play, since she was coming off a serious injury. And there were several promising players in the roster. When the games started, everything changed. And this happens frequently. But some people here and now doing the same thing, thinking it's possible to predict the unpredictable and acting as if it were possible to be certain about something that hasn't even started and usually begins and ends very differently from what was planned. This is a example.

Technically not in the portal but class of 2026 decommitment from Long Beach St due to coaching change. National leader in made 3's; wonder if she can play any defense.

"She is the all time high school career leader in 3 pointers."

She could be our 10th or 11th player, to come off the bench and score some shoots for us. She follows Caitlin Clark, Woliczko, and Iowa WBB in instagram, so maybe it's in her best interest, I just don't know if the interest is mutual.

Sure, but one was an All American football prospect and the other is a woman who played basketball at Western Illinois. I'm thinking she might not have quite as much leverage.
She said was looking for a somewhere she would be priority. So maybe she considers herself an All American talent too:

“The No. 1 thing I was looking at going into the portal was going somewhere and being a priority, and going somewhere and competing for minutes immediately."

Yeah. The 2 requirements kind of go hand in hand. She's basically saying that she wants to go where starter minutes are more or less guaranteed, and only a program where she has that opportunity is going to be open to other asks. She wasn't getting that at Iowa, so no big loss there.

She's basically asking the team to revolve around her. That's asking too much and is unrealistic for someone coming from a mid team and looking for a spot on a elite team.

Kaelyn Carroll to Washington and Samiyah Smith to Oklahoma. These are players I would have liked to see wear a Hawkeye uniform. Washington is doing very well in the portal.
Yes it would be nice. However, I think they need of pf who is a senior that can help with McKenna transition. There are a number of recruits that Iowa is after for 2027. Having room for players to come in and play would be an asset. If there are too many younger players, maybe recruits look other places.

Don't post much, but do enjoy reading most of the comments, and the good bantering back and forth. Also didn't realize that being on these boards was all about getting likes. Guess I learned something new today, Thanks for the tip, Anon, I'll try harder. :ROFLMAO:

Mostly just come on these boards to read what is happening in Hawkeye Nation, also enjoy the good back and forth bantering. I didn't realize that I was supposed to come on here to get likes. I guess you learn something new every day, Thanks for the tip. Anon, I'll try harder. :ROFLMAO:

Torvik has her rated out near ERod type of player from '25 stats. Would be a nice get for sure. However, suspect several teams are going to pay more than our budget allows. Meaning from the reports of NIL remaining she'd probably leave us barren to fill out other spots. I'd welcome to be shocked if we landed her.

I really though we would be done portaling since one of your experts said by the end of the week. I guess 9 is good enough. We only play 8 anyway, right? They will all be healthy, happy and just fine all year long. Maybe we can get some JUCO's to just be happy sittin around and transfering out again next year. Have a good day girls.

829 out of 1,573 young women have found new homes in the portal.

Four (plus one) forwards who remain!

Oraly Kiefer Merrimack 6'3' forward
Georgia Ferguson Evansville 6'3" forward
Aaliyah Roberson TCU 6'2" forward
Truitt Riley San Diego 6'2" forward

and Emely Rodriguez 6'0"

The Iowa WBB program could use any of these young women.
