Each year is different. This year him being a lame duck coach has hurt. Come play for me so I won't get fired at the end of the year isn't a great recruiting pitch.

Otega is a role player we were forced to try to make a star player because we couldn't recruit better. He is being invited because so many players are WD to return to college with NIL. Not because he is a threat to be drafted. That's on Pope.
MM is the one legit player, but he still needs a lot of development and teams are mostly interested in the intangibles he has that can't be taught.
My job as UK fan is not to bash players. I congrats all of them because all 3 were UK players and potentially will represent UK in NBA. I rather have them as supporting the program in the future and that can happen in many forms, so being nice doesn’t s hurt anyone.
I don’t know what happened there. I didn’t like it . I don’t know the behind the scenes . The glimpses from outside that I have seen I think MP has something to do with it …. Paying money to injured player and then how everything was managed , I didn’t like any of it. I didn’t like his dad posts. I like JQ when was in the court and also when he cheered the team the whole season from bench.

That’s the combine man. OO is likely a low second round pick like close to the end if he’s drafted. MM was a freshman without any coach on the staff really helping him. He was better to start the season than the end. JQ took advantage of pope and quit. I’ll say it again though. It’s coaching and not much else. These guys are in the combine not drafted.
Exactly. Oweh isn't on any draft boards, and won't be. He'll get a G-League shot IMO but he's not skilled enough for the league. J-Q is an Arizona State player, not a UK player.
Moreno's development is the difference in whether we come in 8th in the SEC and make the NCAAT, or finish 10th or worse, with 0 SECT wins and no NCAAT.
That’s what I am thinking too. I think MP issues are bigger on coaching , player development and roster management.
for instance how many players did Gonzaga or Bama that beat us badly have in the nbA combine? In both games Pope had no reaction from bench , and I remember how poorly the games were prepared. So if it’s not the talent, then has to be the coaching.

JQ was recruited twice by UK and said yes both times to 2 different coaches... so I think UK will be part of his legacy.
how much he played for Uk in both situations is different story With different circumstances Where the money paid vs time plaid was not managed properly.
As a UK fan, I hope OO and JQ get drafted this year and MM next year a monster second year at UK.

I would blame Cal and Pope more than players.

What professional teams gamble superstar money level for someone that had ACL surgery 2 moths ago without being cleared by competent and independent medical evaluation?

Have you read his contract? Do you have any proof that the staff or doctors were lying about swelling? Do you even know how a contract works?
It was previously reported that a major sticking point in Freeman's recruitment was a clause to prevent this type of thing. I don't know how true it is. But it would be about the only way to stop such a thing. Agents will fight it until everyone agrees to add it.
NBA contracts are fully guaranteed, so I guess that's the model for now. JQ was a risk Auburn and Kansas were willing to take and it was considered a win when he chose us.
As for JQ himself? I saw an 18 year old who wanted to play. He was enthusiastic when he was on the court. My guess is it wasn't his idea to sit. His dad and agent saw no real upside to him playing anymore. Nowhere to go but down. He's already a lottery pick.

why did he only play 65 minutes? I thought once Cal was gone and we got our boy Pope in there, the Shaedon Sharpe type situations wouldn't happen anymore
