Was LIV the very definition of setting piles of cash on fire?
absolutely not

the players who initially went to LIV did so with a very specific wishlist of changes they'd like to see on the PGA Tour

every single one of these conditions has since been met by the Tour

as long as the current PGA Tour schedule and player incentives exist, so, too, exists LIV

As usual you’re wrong. The players that left for the Liv left for 100 million. The ones that stayed Like Tiger and Rory are the ones the wanted a few chances and ways to make more money like the virtual golf. Guys like Rahm and Reed came crawling back because their game suffered because it’s not a serious competition on the Liv.

Just 10 seconds of freshening up that shoddy memory of yours would’ve helped.

Instead, revisionist history.

The primary reasons for golfers leaving for LIV were the guaranteed gargantuan payouts, the reduced schedule, and the reduced tournament length format. None of that has been matched by the PGA. It's disappointing that LIV might be done because I think we need more competition in sports leagues.

I’m happy LIV is dead. There’s only a couple of LIV guys I would let back on the PGA tour. Screw DeChambeau.

i wonder if there might be a hidden message here for college sports. it's not talent ultimately that matters, it's patrons. if nobody watches, the sport dies. liv was an awful watch, nobody did. now college sports are being infested with gamblers, private equity, broken alliances, the portal, and the like. will patrons at some point say: i can liv without it? idk.

How dumb are you? They wanted to only play 15 tournaments a year, gone. They only wanted to play 54 holes, gone. They wanted all non-cut events, gone. Who cares that "some" of the purses on the PGA tour increased. The PGA tour is currently deciding which tournaments to cut and how some of the tournaments are going to have lower payouts. What a wasted pile of garbage LIV was.

hilariously ironic to be posting this on the very day a brand new, no-cut, high payout tournament kicked off on the PGA Tour

never change, Lou. you're such a dumbass I imagine it's an inspiration to other aspiring dumbasses.

I disagree with you, and will say again that writing juvenile insults does nothing to prove your point.

You are better than this, I do know!

I've always been pretty neutral on LIV, since I'm all for pros playing on whatever tour they choose. But I do take some pleasure in seeing Phil Mickelson's quest to stay relevent collapsing. Great career, but easily one of the whiniest, me-first douchebags in all of sports.

I'm not happy LIV is dead. Competition is good. I would hate to see a champion like DeChambeau not able to play golf at the highest levels anymore. However, the guys that left for LIV probably need to penalized if they want to come back. Make them go through Q-school maybe? Although, that would suck for the up and coming guys. Maybe make them pay a large fine proportional to the guaranteed money they took to go to LIV?

Golfers richer, Saudis poorer, pga tour made some changes beneficial to the players? Seems like it worked out.
Golf is more about the sport, the event and the tradition, and not the players. It's like college football in that regard. Players come and go. The Arabs even tried to make it a political thing. Nope.

Are they playing team golf? Are they playing 54 holes? Are they having shot gun starts? Are they playing loud music on the course? Are they playing easy, resort courses? Are they wearing shorts? Are they dependent on Al-Rumayyan to cover all production and purse costs? Are they going to have a TV audience of 50K? Is every tournament no cut? Are the majors no cut? I told you LIV was a dying ship long ago. You once wrote that Al-Rumayyan used a trojan horse and is now squarely in the leadership of golf. It looks like to me that that trojan horse got burned to the ground and your statement has proven to be very un-smart. (Spectr, are you ok with me using "un-smart"? Are you not offended by dong's use of dumbass?)

Rahm did not come crawling back yet... If you're going to call someone out for being wrong at least get your counter punch right..

When Keopka came back he made a 5 million dollar contribution to a charity and he is not eligible for the equity payouts and bonuses like Top 50 Fed ex finishers etc… so there will be a “ penalty “ for each player.

Rahm is one of the guys I want back with some penance. I can live with DeCambeau but hope he never wins again. There’s a couple of other foreign players I would want back.
