The "Inside the NBA" crew is awesome but no more college announcements by a prima donna, big-time Kentucky recruit...

1. Caleb Wilson: When it finally came time to make his decision, Wilson opted for the brightest lights possible. He went on national television, sat down with the Inside the NBA crew, and committed to the North Carolina Tar Heels
2. Tyran Stokes: UK fans had to endure Charles Barkley teasing “a whole lotta blue over there” when Stokes brought out a blue present, only to watch the No. 1 player in the class of 2026 painfully slowly open a box with a 2K card inside, officially committing to the Kansas Jayhawks.
Two massive, drawn-out recruitments. Two times, Kentucky was viewed as a prime contender early. Two times the prospect went on national television to banter with the best studio show in sports, and two times Mark Pope was left watching another fanbase celebrate.
ENOUGH ALREADY: IMO, UK should identify "prima donna: recruits early in the recruiting process and move on to other recruits--such as Holt and Collins--who could be recruited in a normal manner, I know we need the talent--which we didn't get in either case--but we need to avoid the embarrassment/negative attention that these type prima donna's losses bring...

Holt said "Kentucky has problems" and laughed at the program on a podcast, and Christian Collins blatantly used UK for leverage. Neither guy was coming here, despite personal feelings you may have to the contrary.

I didn't say either was coming to UK...I just pointed out that they were not as much of a a prima donna as Wilson/Stokes and did not reject UK in front of a live national tv audience. Every basketball fan knows Holt/Collins did not choose UK. However, recruits making the rejection announcement on "Inside the NBA" is an embarrassment for fans and UK...

Ok? Cry? Tell Pope to do better. I don't understand what you want to happen. You want inside the NBA to no longer let their future players announce there because they aren't picking the school you want?

Patrick Patterson committed on May 17.
John Wall committed on May 19.
Kevin Knox committed on May 6.
Brandon Knight committed on April 14.
Terrence Jones committed to Washington on April 30, then Kentucky 3 weeks later.
do you think these guys had long drawn out recruitments and are prima donnas that we should have moved on from and moved on to other recruits?

The best players in the country like to have televised announcements. Not that Pope can get them. It’s impossible to avoid and know which players may want to announce like that unless you just don’t want us to go after top level talent.

People should see that Pope is clueless about that.

Imagine if this was Stein. He would probably discern it, and tell them to eff off.

If I'm a coach, I'm never letting some 17yo narcissist play me like a fiddle then hang me out to dry like this. That's what I like about Hurley. I think he snuffs these kids' intentions out very early and tells them to hit the road if they're playing games.

If Kentucky is truly putting the highest offers out there, it should be understood that there's a limited clock on it. Not "Here's $7M: feel free to shop that offer around to see who can match it over the next few months." Rather, "Here's $7M. You have 24 hours to make a decision." There's no strategic advantage for the highest bidder to have an outstanding offer linger like that. It puts no pressure on the recruit and gives them all of the leverage in the process. Totally idiotic managing from people who are in way over their heads as basketball coaches and not savvy business people.

Said it before: Zion could do this, AD could do this, Cooper could do this, NOT Stokes. He is a great player, but he’s his own hype. He ain’t Zion hyped nor is he even remotely in the same category as cooper and most definitely AD. This was just absolutely cringe. The state of college basketball just keeps getting worse.

Well he did it lol. I don't understand the absolute online entitlement some of our fans have...

"I think you're overrated, especially since you didn't choose MY school. You can't go on national tv and announce your decision!"

TF is wrong with this fanbase?

Exactly this. The entitlement and lack of perspective is really something. There are other programs and kids get to decide their future and what brings them happiness. If some of our fans don’t like it, tough ****. Trashing the kid is going to do nothing to improve the situation and can only hurt.
