And by the way, for those who have amnesia, a lot of us wanted Drew to be the coach when Calipari voided his contract, and had to leave. Drew won a National Championship. I wanted him to get the job. However, despite tons of NIL money, he’s sucked the last two years.
**** off.

I wanted Cal gone in 2017.

I did not want Drew.

I didn't want Pearl, either.

I wanted Mitch's punk *** to get Golden out of Florida.

I did not want Pope and thought it was a joke when I was told that he'd been hired.

Pope isn't going to get it done.

Mitch panicked.

He did a great job his first season. Got to the sweet sixteen without his best player, Jaxson Robinson, and his second best player, Lamont Butler. That was a phenomenal coaching job.

This year was disappointing. However, his all in with Quaintance backfired on him.

I just like to be fair. Pope might not be the answer. Probably still too early to tell. The hatred for him is unwarranted.
Unwarranted, his recruiting is disastrous, hell he just offered some foreign jackass a scholarship that scored zero points in a game where his team scored 102, in a league where there’s next to no defense.

Not literally, but figuratively. Everything is hate towards Pope. His fist two season, have been better than Calipari’s last four
So, everyone is supposed to be happy that Pope's first two seasons were, arguably, better than Cal's shittiest seasons.

**** off.

I'd argue that Pope's first two seasons have been more of the same.

They've been a downward trajectory and a continuation of a move towards mediocrity and complacency at Kentucky.

And many fans have become whiny punks who accept losing.

******* losers.

…every single thing you post is negative, miserable, your life is ending and you wish Pope would die.

You do realize this isn’t life and death, right? You also realize that Calipari won 1 tournament game his last four seasons here, and he had NUMEROUS FIVE STAR RECRUITS.

I‘m a huge Billy Donovan fan, and if Pope doesn’t work out, I’ll be happy with him.

However, Donovan, in his first two seasons at Florida, had a losing record. He also had a losing record in his last season at Florida.

Sometimes it just takes a while for a coach to get things rolling.

I'm old enough to remember when UK was elite, and always a threat to win a National Championship, even in years they weren't ranked at the very top. I'm old enough to remember when I could watch a game, and expect to win, every time, no matter who the opponent was, because we were UK...and I'm old enough to remember when the rest of the country feared, and hated us, because we were so dominant...that describes the majority of my life as a UK fan, up until Cal started to slide, and the subsequent downward spiral that has occurred since.

All these guys gonna be upset when we let Pope go and end up with our 30th choice coach from Gardner Webb.
It isn’t Pope. These guys will unfortunately find that out. It’s our Administration and the way we do NIL. Barnharts blueprint destroyed Kentucky.
Calipari is still a bad coach but his recruiting at Arkansas is light years ahead of what he was getting here. Since NIL started Cal was bringing in sloppy seconds here. Our next coach won’t be able to recruit under JMI either. Sad, but you will see. Kentucky is probably dead for 15 years until we are out of that death deal.
We won’t be able to lure a good AD here with this stupid arrangement either. Unless they think they can void the JMI disaster.

We're taking about the 22-13 Illinois team that finished 7th in the big10 and was ranked once in the last 7 AP top 25 polls that year?

Who are the experts and what exactly did they say?

That says more about the roster construction which is on the coaches. Even healthy we honestly weren't that good. We beat Duke early in the season because Scion James got injured early in the game, and Flagg and Knueppel had cramping issues. They were beating us double digits before that. Gonzaga was beating the **** out of us and we made a miracle comeback. Yet, we still lost to unranked OH st, Clemson, Arkansas, UGA, Vanderbilt and Texas.

The positives were beating UT twice and Florida in Rupp. However, UT returned the favor by beating the **** out of us in the NCAA tournament. We also got abused by Bama 3 times, Auburn, Ole Miss.

I mean, if 11 years of coaching isn't enough to form an opinion on, I don't know what more time is going to show you.

If you're wrong a lot, maybe you're just a slow learner.
Yep, and Maluach was cramping too. Before coming out, he was owning the paint. I do give credit to Carr, who had a few huge plays on him 1v1 in the clutch, but those cramping issues really changed the game in an artificial way. Still a huge win that was promptly offset by dumbfounding losses to Clemson and Ohio State.

Stand up for Kentucky.

That ***** *** **** was telling Kentuckians to rat out their neighbors to the Po Po for having group gatherings in their homes after he idiotically shut down the State over a virus that only killed fat people and the elderly.

**** that dude and everyone who voted for his punk ***.

His daily death cult appearance where he fearmongered by spouting off the fake death toll from covid was particularly communist.

14 top 20 players visit Lexington and Pope went 0-14. Idk how that’s even possible. If you don’t believe me look it up. Matt jones even discussed it on his show.

Pope met with and zoomed most of those guys. He got them to campus after those meetings.
After they get here , they leave and we never hear from them again and you believe even after meeting them before, they all hated Pope.
Im not buying it. Their agent hated what he heard, after talking with JMI.

Just curious. So you say it's JMI. So say we didn't have JMI and had whatever every other school has. Do you think Pope would recruit better?

He gets them here. He’s had tons of high ranked guys visiting and didn’t land a single one. Nobody. Calipari is killing it at Arkansas. Finally getting the guys like he used to before NIL here. Mitch, JMI and our penchant for following rules no one else is , has and is killing our recruiting. Both basketball and football at Kentucky went into death spirals the year after NIL. I cant be the only one that sees this.

I’m not so much a Pope guy as a Barnhart hater. I believe it’s him that destroyed our sports programs with his reluctance to NIL. All you need to do is google both football and basketball records before and after NIL. Stoops and Cal were both killing it. Immediately after both flatlined and are no longer here. Calipari is Killing recruiting at Arkansas. I’m just saying I don’t think anyone can recruit at a high level here. Not until a new AD restructures everything. JMO.

To answer your question, I’m 34. I found the old board and made an account when we hired Calipari and I was a much more passionate fan back then. Those who remember me from back then (JMeeks54thebest) that passion did, at times, come out as doom and gloom. But it was because I cared.

I still want UK to be successful. But I don’t care nearly as much as I used to. Partially due to NIL, partially due to the mercenary transfer system, and partially due to over a decade of one-and-done players that I never got to know as well as the players of old.

So yes, doom and gloom posts aren’t fun to read. But those posts are indicative of a poster who cares and is passionate about the university with only very obvious trolls being the exception.

It’s kind of like raising children. If you love your children you don’t always shower them with positivity and approval. Sometimes you have to discipline them in order to bring out the best in them. You could certainly choose not to give them tough love, but that will come back to haunt both you and the child when they grow up as it’s fairly obvious which adults were raised like that (imo).

Not really bro. I keep hearing that but it’s not exactly true if you look at facts and numbers. Stein got here late last year. I’ll give him that. His first class ranked almost exactly where Stoops last classes ranked. Stoops last 2 portal classes were 6th and 13th. Steins was 9th. Overall ranking both 12th in the SEC out of 14 teams.
He has a high rated QB this year. Stoops got Pony last year. But, we have 3 Four stars and 9 Three stars . No one would be saying Stoops was killing it with that record. When this entire class shakes out, that will be good for 12th in the SEC probably again.
We are wanting to basketball recruit top in the country. Not 12th in our conference.
Stein is by no means getting the top talent in Football. Not even close.
We just finished 2nd for the #1 basketball recruit in the country. The #1 football recruit would never even speak to us. Huge difference in the pool we swim in.

Dude you need to seriously take a break from here. Not only are you defending the slobbering tard we have as a coach, you’re now stooping so low that you’re making things up.

I mean this seriously, do us all a favor and post less.

He thinks his opinion and beliefs are the only acceptable view point. Spends too much time trying to convince people he is right.

Seems do be doing good to me anyways, and he’s still adding more. I don’t know though. I do know that facts and numbers show that pope isn’t that great of a coach or recruiter either way.

I just don’t understand the “if Pope doesn’t work out” crowd. He’s not working out, hoping for him to work out is over. For two straight seasons now he has shown us he cannot recruit. I was willing to give him this third year to see how he did in the portal this year. He had a chance to change the narrative. He has completely failed at the assignment. The team this year might be decent, possibly a little better than last year’s team. That is not OK, that is a failure. He has had three years now to put together a roster that can compete for a final four. He has failed at doing so. “if Pope doesn’t work out” is over, he’s not working out.

Okay Grandpa, you cannot compare the past to today’s college sports. You say it takes time to build a program. Not in the NIL and transfer portal era.

There are true nuts posting here. As an example, a simple question about whether DA could have sought a waiver and remained at UK turns from a yes/no ( with explanation) answer to more bashing about Pope and UK. Just about any subject thread slips into the same redundant childish comments and memes. It has become a message board filled with low IQ posters. And, most of them know that. So, probably good to give them grace. They cannot help themselves.

The point is almost everyone is piling on Pope and has been hateful in their rhetoric.
Sorry that I even have to explain this.

He probably isn’t the answer, but the constant hateful stuff being posted about him is unwarranted.

I choose to stay positive. I think we’ll be better next season than most on here. If not, then we’lll be looking for a new coach. Really is this simple.
Kev Mark is not fit for Kentucky. Think about the program and the men who build it, and the security it deserves. Not one man, and blindly follow. Which is what a few are doing.

You cannot point to a single angle that suggest he is worthy of UK in the past or current to. Not one. To back him means you aren’t backing the program. It’s that simple and unarguable.
