...Come on now. What have you seen that would tell you this? Because sealy beating out Kasak is entirely dependent on Kasak not being 100%. This seems wild to me.
Top 10 recruit (#1 pfp when he signed).
Took Duke right to end of their match early this season, losing on a debatable stall call. I thought he looked really good in that match.
Good recent freestyle results and a couple quality wins unattached this year. The Cannon match was weird but Cannon can do that to guys.
I just think he has a higher ceiling than Kasak but I guess we'll see.

Agreed. That is a WILD statement to make. Kasak is a million times better folk wrestler than Sealey. He dang sure doesn't take losses to Harvard guys.

Health is going to be everything for Kasak. Hope he can right the ship.
Did Kasak take any bad losses his true freshman year? I sure recall a few.

No need to have discussions with ANYONE.

wrestler A: 2x NCAA 3rd placer

wrestler B: Lost to a Harvard kid
Wrestler A - lost to Caleb Rathjen his true freshman year and
Lost to #26 ranked Abas from Stanford during his true freshman year.
As we've seen throughout the history of the sport, judging a wrestler by the results of their true freshman year isn't a great indicator of their future success (ahem Paul Jenn/Cael).
I'll admit I'm not a Kasak fan. Too much smoke around the crazy weight and strength gains. I also don't see a guy that's an extremely "skilled" wrestler in all n positions, he's just tough as hell and strong as an ox.

If no last minute jump ins, then lets just go Ech, AJ and retain JW. Onward, don't ever look back.
Pretty stark that there is now a poster advocating to grab two guys that no team wants and retain another guy that has been basically kicked off two teams just to hold on to hope for battling for a team trophy. Not even a ghost of a chance at challenging for a championship even with selling out for those clowns.

Not doing this to troll Iowa, just would like to see @MSU158 respond with some twisted logic about how well the twins are running the program and how only Cael is doing a better job.

His true freshman year he lost to Bartlett once at 141 and Lovett twice after replacing Van Ness at 149. Not bad losses. Rathjen was a bad loss as you mentioned. I suppose you can call his loss to Abas in the 1st round of the NCAA championship as bad but then he realed off 7 straight wins (one of only a handful to ever do it) to get 3rd with a major against Lovett along the way.

Sealey was injured to start his true freshman season and went 0-2. He did much better last season but at this point he's not comparable to Kasak. But I agree with you to an extent, Sealey does have a lot of upside.

His worst loss was to Rathjen in SV1. He had 4 other losses on the season: one to Bartlett at 141 in their "live wrestleoff" at the Black Knight that Kasak was never expected to win, 2 losses to Lovett (7-3 and 4-0), and 4-2 to Abas in the first round of NCAAs before he wrestled all the way back to 3rd, beating Arrington, Lovett (MD), and Watters on the backside. Sealey has taken a bunch of losses much worse than all of those.

At this point, as VHS pointed out, their folkstyle records speak for themselves. Sealey certainly has the pedigree and talent to make a major jump and truly challenge Kasak for the spot, but it will take a major jump. I'm not betting on it.

Fair responses and valid points. Who knew we had to occasionally rely on Nit fans to have normal discussions... ;)

Sealey is great. Uber talented. Even when he was the big dog in hs he would have some unexpected losses.

nothing i'd worry about though.

that being said, last i heard he had a very serious GF who lived in the area of state college and her father was very supportive of them.

no idea if that's still true (ya know how college relationships go).

but every time i see a thread asking why sealey doesn't leave i have to think that (the relationship/family) might be a big factor.
