…every single thing you post is negative, miserable, your life is ending and you wish Pope would die.

You do realize this isn’t life and death, right? You also realize that Calipari won 1 tournament game his last four seasons here, and he had NUMEROUS FIVE STAR RECRUITS.

I‘m a huge Billy Donovan fan, and if Pope doesn’t work out, I’ll be happy with him.

However, Donovan, in his first two seasons at Florida, had a losing record. He also had a losing record in his last season at Florida.

Sometimes it just takes a while for a coach to get things rolling.

UK is different. You see a bad coach get to a sweet sixteen year 1 currently. That’s the Kentucky effect. Pope don’t do it. He relied on the name on the front of the jersey. The problem is he is regressing and taking the job with him.

And by the way, for those who have amnesia, a lot of us wanted Drew to be the coach when Calipari voided his contract, and had to leave. Drew won a National Championship. I wanted him to get the job. However, despite tons of NIL money, he’s sucked the last two years.

I didn't and still just assume to have Pope as that option.

I don't care about the Covid championship.

I don’t know why you’re saying we, I didn’t want Scott Drew anywhere near here either

It's not life or death. It really isnt that serious. So when a coach isn't getting the job done he's going to catch hell. Popes catching hell for a reason and you're crazy if you expect it to stop until he shows something positive.

Why are we supposed to be all positive for a coach that has given us nothing to be positive about. Fireeeee Pope. But it's not that serious

At 31, in his 3rd year as a head coach, Billy Donovan inherited a 12-16, largely irrelevant SEC program, without the transfer portal or NIL. He didn’t have to rebuild, he BUILT that program.

At 51, in his 9th year as a head coach, Mark Pope became the head coach at the winningest program in the sport, with the benefits of the transfer portal, NIL, and everything that comes with UK.

Not literally, but figuratively. Everything is hate towards Pope. His fist two season, have been better than Calipari’s last four
Cornbread literally spends every second of the day here and never lets up. It was the same with Cal He's a total fraud that acts like he (or she I think) gives fair criticism but that's a shameful lie. Just look at her posts. All day, EVERY.SINGLE.DAY nothing but hate and mockery.

The only thing I need to know about you is that you have Andy Beshear as your avatar picture.
He‘s a deranged, far left Commie, that is pro abortion, anti death penalty, and wants illegals to vote, and that’s just a short list of everything he’s wrong about.

Lol, no they haven't. We got a decent seed and 2 cupcakes last year to get to the sw16, only to get the **** beat out of us. This year we won 1 game on a miracle buzzer beater against a mid major and got curb stomped in the 2nd rd. The regular seasons saw 12 losses and then 14 losses. 6th in the SEC year one, 7th in year 2 and a 10 seed in the SEC tournament, playing on Wednesday for the first time and unranked for 14 weeks of the season.

I haven’t seen anyone say that. I think the OP has had a few to many cold beers today or something lol
The point is almost everyone is piling on Pope and has been hateful in their rhetoric.
Sorry that I even have to explain this.

He probably isn’t the answer, but the constant hateful stuff being posted about him is unwarranted.

I choose to stay positive. I think we’ll be better next season than most on here. If not, then we’lll be looking for a new coach. Really is this simple.

I actually think Pope was the best candidate Mitch Barnhart could have hired. Now an athletic director that was capable of thinking outside of the box could have made a better hire. I mean Scott Drew would have been a travesty here. Danny Hurley was not coming but he would have rubbed people the wrong way. Billy Donovan could have done this job, I think a lot of people understand for years Billy D could do it. Jay Wright could do this job, but he's retired and not coming back. There's a few who could handle all the particularities of this position.

I've said what you are saying all last season - that he's getting 3 years - and have gotten the dumbest responses. Good luck.

Nothing wrong with staying positive buddy. I hope you guys that believe in him are right but the odds aren’t good. Pope can’t keep struggling to recruit like he is. I’ve never seen anything like it. I’m not sure how much you read on social media, but we’re getting made fun of big time over recruiting.

Hes the only person I've seen stand up for Kentucky. The only one. Everyone else says we are to mean it's our fault.

Your other thread failed miserably, so you decided to start another one tonight? This one is even better with the ad hominem attacks on posters. I'm actually impressed. You played the last two deflection cards for Pope's quasi supporters: #1. falsely declare that UK hasn't been dominant in the post-Rupp era of the program and #2. personally attack posters.

Once again, you lack any data support for why anyone should feel positive about Mark Pope at this point.

Why do you care so much if people are negative about pope? Like really why does it bother you? He hasn’t done a good job, people are going to be negative, get over it.

It’s about relevance. Even when Cal was choking games, the top recruits wanted to come here. We aren’t just irrelevant. Recruits openly use us for leverage and coaches make fun of us. Your Calipari obsession is weird. We get it. You don’t like him. Was it time for him to go? Yes. Was the program inherently more relevant and attractive to talent when he was here? Yes. I will never root against the team, much less even think of wishing ill will on Pope. I also have not seen that, by the way. But your post is just a straw man. We do not care about what Cal did or did not do. We want to not be a joke and fade into oblivion like Nebraska football did.

OP is a moron like Pope. You don't compare 2 seasons to 4. Logically you compare cals first 2 years at Arkansas vs Popes at UK.

Or cals first 2 seasons at UK to Popes first 2.

Bizarre to highlight cals last 4 vs 2 for Pope.

We can highlight Cals 4 final fours n 5 seasons vs Popes 0 conference titles or tourney titles n 11 seasons if we are using random years against each other.

Cal has twice as many final fours as Pope has ncaa tournament wins as well.

See how easy it is to compare non comparable timelines?

I’ll disagree about the Illinois second round game in Pope’s first season. They had a dangerously talented team, and most “experts” said this. That was a good win.

You have to also realize that UK’s best player, didn’t play in the tournament, and their second best player, Butler, was never healthy. Don’t discount this. Pope overachieved his first season.

Look, I understand the frustrations. I really do. I’m a 59 year old life long diehard fan. The older you become, and you realize your time is running out, it becomes a little less life and death.

When I was young, I would lose sleep over a UK loss. It still bothers me when they lose, but you realize it’s not that important.

Most of the players aren’t even from Kentucky. And now with money involved, most couldn’t care less about what us fans were always the proudest of, and that’s the tradition of Kentucky basketball.

I hope Pope ends up being successful. It’s too early to tell in my opinion. If he’s not, I’m all in favor of Donovan.

I respect your thoughts and opinions. I’m wrong a lot.
