Mets 3rd straight game vs a pitcher with a plus 6.00 ERA .
Tonight’s flame throwing ace entered tonight 0-3 with a minuscule 7.56 ERA

Mets take advantage of error on possible inning ending DP
Now have 5 runs after error , credit for pouncing on Nats after error !

Make that 7 after error !!!!!!

Organizations with a pulse and with under achieving managers that have accomplished much more than Mendoza have been terminated.

Right Wrong or Indifferent - he’s been the skipper under the current season disaster and last years disaster with the team taking on his stoic boring apathetic personality!

It’s time already to do the inevitable and then Stearns on deck !

Good to see the offense have a pulse last night. Need to start to string it together now and not go right back to a 2 run or less game. Let's hope the Nats really bad pitching jump starts them.

Holmes with another good start. Keeps chugging along.

A.J. Ewing with a heck of a AAA debut last night as well. 3/4 with a 3B, 2B, and a BB. Clifford hit his 5th HR. Morabito continuing his strong start with a couple of walks and a SB. OPS at .834.

Stearns should be right there with Mendoza. They go at the same time. Stearns should go because of that smirk.

Not meant to start a negative vs positive Met fan ***** fest but is this guy wrong ?
What is the ceiling for these four ???

Mauricio can NOT hit a curve , he looked clueless on that 0-1 pitch

Can't argue. All four have been disappointing, to varying degrees. I don't think any have all star potential. We would not have said that two years ago.

I think Baty and Alvarez can be MLB-average starters, which is certainly not nothing, but not what we had hoped.

Vientos' ceiling IMO is as a righty DH and bat off the bench, with the occasional start at 1B or 3B.

Mauricio is IMO destined to be a minor league journeyman, with the occasional injury call up.

Crazy that Alvarez was the #1 ranked prospect in all of baseball. Wonder how common it is for those players to completely bust

Update : the fine for throwing Mauricio a fastball has gone up from $500,000 to $1,000,000 and a 80 game suspension

2-0 curve bounced 2 feet in front of home plate and he waved at it . Then he looked like a clown on the next 2 pitches

He will eventually hit a 450 foot HR and some will think I’m wrong but he will follow that up with another 1-22 streak. He is not a major leaguer

So- boy genius doesn’t know how to build a Major League team- his top prospects suck, his money management sucks and has no clue how to trade.

though, Holmes does look like his one thing he did right.

Notwithstanding that Mendoza should have been left in Chicago 2 weeks ago - does anyone in their right mind think he should still be employed tomorrow?

Same with Stearns who should just resign !

Mets have a fundamental organizational issue with their inability to develop hitters. It’s sad as is their entire state of affairs right now !

Unfortunately, Stearns gave Holmes an opt out at the end of this season.

I am not 100% sure that is the case- the problem the Met's have is - F-ing Stearns and a pupet manager.

Baty really came around last year one he was set in a position. He actually even became a pretty good 3B. His hitting went back into the s-ter once Stearns needed to find a spot for Bichette and made Baty's spot very unsure.

Alveraz- Hard call- he just gets these weird injuries that happen to be in places that have a major impact to hitting. Vientos just seems to be a head case.

So- maybe that all does fall on development, but it also falls on management.

Is it a Met thing to give multiple players opt-outs? I don't recall other teams giving as many opt-outs. You can't build unity.
Opt-outs are fairly common nowadays in a competitive free agent market. It's a way of sweetening the deal without adding any more cash.

The Bichette deal makes me ill. A three year contract with two opt-outs! I believe that the Mets offseason strategy centered around signing Kyle Tucker. When that failed, Bichette had the Mets over a barrel.

There is, however, the conspiracy theory that the Mets want Bichette to opt out. They expect to have a replacement in place for 2027.

I don't trust Stearns to have a replacement for Bichette. Stearns has proven to be incompetent as the Mets' GM/President so far.

The fact that Soto doubled to lead off the 8th... and the next batter up was Austin F"ING Slater who was DFA'd by the marlins for hitting .170, tells you all you need to know about this roster. I understand injuries happen and midseason moves need to be made, but that is just an awful awful awful lineup to have your 765M man "protected" by an absolute bum. That's a Stearns issue

Pinch hitting Baty for Tyrone taylor in the 6th or 7th, which means Taylor is up against the righty closer in bottom 9 is also a glaring issue, and that one falls on Mendoza.

The good news is they are on the west coast coming up so i won't need to watch another pitch for the next week

I know there was a shot taken a day or two ago but Melendez is hitting better than anyone on the team not named Soto.

We are going to Arizona. We had considered leaving Saturday, booked to leave Friday--saw the Mets were in Arizona (fantastic field and stadium), considered rebooking to Saturday, and then decided no freaking way do I want to watch a train wreck in the desert.
