91 Powerball tickets matched all 5 numbers last night and won either $1M or $2M. Only 2 tickets also had the 6th number and won the jackpot. I’ve never seen anything like that with the lottery. It has to be the luckiest night ever for players.

That being said, what’s the most money you have ever won gambling? Do you have a good story?

Very rarely do I walk out of casino in the black but have won a little at the horse track. I only bet for the fun of it and if I can pay for my drinks with my winnings I had a good day. The best day I ever had at the track was with a sloppy / muddy track conditions. Normally I'm a box better but I threw $20 at a long shot on a WPS bet (so total of $60). That nag was the only horse on the card that had run well with a sloppy track but was moving up in class so she was not favored. She won by a mile and I think the payout was around $800.

Maybe 5 or so with normal, lower amount jackpots. I’ve only seen it over 10 when the jackpot is huge. It was not that big last night.

I won a few grand in Vicksburg after leaving Daiquiri World pretty drunk. A friend dropped me off at the casinah’ and he came back for me a few hours later. We went to the ATM before he dropped me off and he only let me go in with my ID. I’m glad for that. Luckily he found me hovering over chips at a blackjack table instead of hovering over a toilet. The story goes that I gave him some black chips for his trouble but I’ve never pushed to see exactly how many.

I know I could look it up, but Im guessing the numbers were 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42. Someday those numbers will hit, and millions of Lost fans will rejoice.

First time I ever played craps in a casino. Buddy and I were walking the strip about 9am while the women were still sleeping. Ran up on a 4’10” Korean chiropractor named Lucky at the Silver City or Silver Dollar or something Silver. After watching him play by himself he recruited us to play. He ended up teaching us to play. It was a $1 table but we had money all over the table every roll. Every time he stopped to explain to us something, they would get pissed because he would slow the game down. We played for hours with him telling us where and when to bet. They finally asked him to leave because he was slowing the game down too much teaching us. When we left I was up over $1300.

I love to gamble, but I’ve always been pretty disciplined about it, more of a social gambler. Prefer playing with friends at the table.

Several years ago I was staying at Caesars in Vegas and had my usual daily limit. Got down to my last $50 and sat down at a $25 table by myself.

New shoe. Lost the first hand, then caught a good run and kept pressing my bets. Finished the shoe up a little over $5K and called it. It was a dream run, that I've never come close to duplicating.

Got hammered later that afternoon, this was back when they had the Pussycat Dolls section, and ended up back at a table with a really hot dealer wearing next to nothing.....Gave about $1K back.

All in all, still a good day.

Luckily, I do not have the gambling addiction gene like alot of others I know. I'll gamble here and there but I don't get a huge kick out of it.

In college I had a buddy that was down 8-9k to a bookie in starkville and he had some crazy 12 team parlay that hit and got him back to even. When the last leg hit he of course went wild.

If you just double your bet every time, eventually you'll win and break even. **

Seriously, the extent of my gambling is when I used to spend a week every year in Tunica, I would go down to the bar in the casino after dinner, put $5 in the poker machines, drink a couple of free beers and watch sports on TV while I played a nickel a hand. I could usually make that last for about an hour. There is nothing else in Tunica to do and Memphis is just far enough I rarely went up there.

I’ll play.

Hope my tears don’t ruin you computer. I was a small time book in my younger days. I know odds and love to gamble. This one cured me.

Very aggressive strategy but with safeguards built in….. allegedly. I had a website (5Dimes) that would take parlays up to 50 teams and you could make your picks individually after the previous pick hopefully won. I did 20-30 team parlays BUT only played money lines. The key was to pick 2 or 3 of your locks that were -100 to -400 ML to pump up your final payout odds. The rest of the picks were heavy heavy favs on the ML - think Bama -2000 v whoever. I even okayed some -8000 ML when I needed a sure winner. You played your key picks in the first 5 picks. If one lost, you started over with another par, cause that one is toast. BUT If your 3-4 early lock picks won tou would to fill out the rest of the par over time with huge money line favs. Never a line bet. It could be a month or more before you finished out the bet. You just to find winners on the ML.

I made good money for several years. Actually never lost money throughout the year or if I did it was negligible.

Sooooo …..the exciting part followed by the heartbreak (spoiler - but for Gods sake it is gambling - you don’t win consistently….. ever). Casinos are expensive to build and operate.

I had hit the first 3 picks in 2 separate parlays. Life was good. And I was SO feeling it with our Lady Dawgs v UConn In the women’s final 4. Feel sure most of you remember. Winna Winna. They were +1700 ML odds. My parlay layout payout odds went through the roof when we win IF the rest of my picks won. My $50 play was sitting on a payout of 150k EACH. After finishing out with high fav ML the payout would have been close to 500k each Alls I had to do was pick guaranteed winning ML to compete the parlay. Remember - no spread, just pick the dam winner.

Well, me and Anhauser Busch had an afternoon meeting. I just wanted to pick ONE game to watch that was a guaranteed winner. I HATE NBA. Always have and forever will.

Spurs were best team in NBA. Lakers were pathetic. Spurs were -19 AT HOME and don’t remember the ML but it was like -2000 or something. No way Spurs could lose at home. It was an important game as far as playoff seedings went.

the rest is history - Lakers led from the opening tip and never relinquished the lead throughout.

Had a major get together with Tito that night. Still sick about that one. Woulda coulda shoulda. 17 me.

The website (5 Dimes) quit taking that form of parlay after that season. No idea if it was related but I promise you they saw my wager.

If anyone knows of a website that will still
Accommodate staged parlay bets, please let me and Tito know. We got real tight after that.

Other story involved me and John Daly at Horseshoe in Tunica playing blackjack.

another story for another time. Tito is calling

I won $10 at the track when I was 8. Of course it was from Jitney Jungle's "Let's Go to the Races" in '81.

I’m about the unluckiest SOB you’ll ever meet. Senior cruise- one of those quarter slides, I had a stack of quarters all the way across with 6-8 on top of each other. I couldn’t get them to fall for nothing had feed it about $30 of mine and $10 that it graciously dribbled out for me

The bar was 8 feet away. I needed more quarters. Nobody was close so I stepped over. Got my change and before I could get back to seat someone set down. They dropped a couple and that whole line fell. I almost had to be escorted out of there.

Another time, my buddy and I went for a concert at tunica. We sat down at 2 slots waiting for doors to open for the show. He hit for $750, within his first $5. I donated my $20 and went to the show.

I won $3300 in an NFL survivor pool back in 2016.

Besides that, I think I went to the Choctaw Reservation 5 times in college and left a winner once. If you only bring $40 to potentially lose, it's tough to win much.
However much I did win was immediately spent at the Krystals right near the casino since it was open late.

I used to win pretty regular at Len-Lews on the old pinball machines. Paid for my night quite often. I also would win on video poker at JJ's Saloon in Pascagoula. I would feel bad though since JJ was my best friends dad and he would feed us for free. They had a crabmeat poboy that was the best poboy ever. So here we are eating poboys and drinking a few beers, and I go and win $40 on video poker.

I won $300 on video poker in Vegas in 1981 on our west trip. I ended up using those winnings for the rest of the fun we had that night.

I also did okay at the Mobile dog track back then a couple of times. I would go with enough to bet 3 dog box bets for 6 bucks. I then put any winnings in the other pocket. I left with $127 the first night and $86 the second time.

Otherwise I am not a good gambler and stay away except for the SPS golf pools. I have a horrible poker face.

I went on a run in 2018 with Oklahoma football and taking the over. They hit the over in every game that season except one (against Army of all people) and that was a push. It was wild. Vegas kept bumping up the total every week and they kept hitting it.

I used to pay a large sum of my apartment rent just off campus by betting against MSU football when Croom was here. No joke. Except for Kentucky. For some reason they would give a stupid line with Kentucky.

Almost felt like insider information

Remember that ground ball that went between Bill Buckner's legs in the 1986 world series? I was a junior at MSU and bet $250 on Boston to win the World Series at 7-1 at the beginning of the postseason.

Last year my family and my brother's family go to West Virginia for Christmas skiing. I have the DraftKings app, so I'm going to put a few bets on the bowl games.
Turns out, you can play online casino in WV on that app, so I put $20 bucks in one of their slot machines and am playing for 40 cents a pull. This is one of their jackpot slots.
3rd pull, I hit the jackpot. 17K. I think this is a joke or something, but my balance is showing it as actually there. So, I start moving the money immediately back to my PayPal account, and my account gets locked up. I get an email from DraftKings that I have to verify my account with DL and the like, so I do that. A day later, the funds are released, and I move it all over to my PayPal and delete that draft kings account.
We got a free vacation out of that deal.

I have certainly paid for a lot of free casino rooms in my lifetime, but I have had a few heaters that always draw you back. Like that birdie on 18 to close out a 104. I have actually hit a hole-in-one golfing (on my own bachelor party, nonetheless) and I still shot a 102. That scorecard is prominently displayed in my mancave. Embarassed and precious, all at the same time.

But I've got two heaters to talk about:
1) Blackjack at the Venetian. Me and the wife out there just being married folks. Eating good. Watching shows. Losing money. It's 1 AM. She goes to bed. I'm down to the last $500 or so. So I start playing $100 per hand blackjack hoping to head to bed soon. 2 hours later, I cash out with about $5000.

2) Pai gow poker at MGM. Me, my brother, and my dad go play in the 2021 WSOP (side tournaments, not the main event). I do jack **** in poker. But I played Pai Gow for about 2 straight hours and never lost a hand. I took about $1000 to the table and was playing $100 per bet. I press every bet that wins by $50 until I get to about $400. Then I press by $100. I pressed my bet all the way up to $1400 per hand until it lost. I walked away from that table with $17000 in chips. And the only reason I left is because some drunk ******* spilled his drink on the table. He literally couldn't talk he was so drunk. I begged the pit boss and the guys' own son to step away to try and protect my heater, but they never gave in. He ended up spilling his drink, so I left.

That is incredible
