I guess we can hope Pope is going after another big euro or something in case he gets whipped again by BYU. We have to have another big body, if its Santa or whoever. Then we are probably done unless Lady Luck comes a calling with one of the nba draft returnees. What an awful roster. Fire Pope now.
Yeah, I didn't know much about him and made a joke comment earlier, but if he is really mocked as an early first round pick, he clearly has ability and we are lacking star power right now. We have to have the money at this point. We need to go all in.This guy is our only realistic hope at a game changer. If Pope doesn't get seriously involved with him he should be thrown out the door. Pope was so up Stoke's *** he didn't know what was going on.
Agree.*If nothing else* I do like the personality makeup of who we've brought in better than last year. Transfers seem to be humble and hungry (ex McBride's quote above). The international guys seem to have a positive rep for having played basketball as a job before.
No comment on the talent level, but at the very least it seems like we won't be laying down like dogs while a mediocre Gonzaga team blasts us by 40 this year.
Give it a rest, you broken record. Everybody knows your opinion. And your IQ, based on your handle. What an awful roster. Fire Pope now.
Mason Williams is the back up PG and he should be fine in a back up role. The roster isn't crap, but it is dependent on a lot of "ifs". If Hawthorne is a star, if Kam Williams and Malachi Moreno can make jumps, if Wilkins can make the jump up in level of play, if Ndiaye can handle the transition to elite level US ball, if they can stay healthy, and if Pope can actually prepare his team. After 2 straight years of blowouts, the last if is the biggest concern to me. The shortened line up could help Pope with his rotation by default.Still not understanding how we’re going into another season with no backup true PG
And everybody knows yours. Now get Pope’s nutsack outta your mouth so we can understand you when you talkGive it a rest, you broken record. Everybody knows your opinion. And your IQ, based on your handle.
Agree, several "ifs". I do not hate the roster overall, but on paper it does not overly excite me much either. The hope is this team plays better together than the sum of its parts. That will mainly be on Pope. BYU Pope seemed to get that (to some success). UKY1 (UK Year 1) Pope seemed to get that too. Not sure wtf happened to UKY2 Pope, that was an embarrassing coaching job from top to bottom (both on and off the court).Mason Williams is the back up PG and he should be fine in a back up role. I think Williams will contribute, shooting splits last year was 60/41/89.Mason Williams is the back up PG and he should be fine in a back up role. I keep hearing some say that certain donors offered that only for Stokes but who knows if that rumor is true or not.How do we have the money to pay Stokes and not use that on 1 stud who pulls out of the draft? I'm still banking on one pretty big fish. I'll be surprised if we don't.
Why offer that for Stokes only when you can get the equivalent? I still think we land 1 more substantial impact player.I keep hearing some say that certain donors offered that only for Stokes but who knows if that rumor is true or not.
I hope we do, but it feels like wishful thinkingHow do we have the money to pay Stokes and not use that on 1 stud who pulls out of the draft? I'm still banking on one pretty big fish. I'll be surprised if we don't.
If you are willing to pay Stokes 5 million..then you have that for another guy... make it make sense?I hope we do, but it feels like wishful thinking
You stay a broken record sucking Pope off defending him every-time a poster posts about him so what’s the differenceGive it a rest, you broken record. Everybody knows your opinion. And your IQ, based on your handle.
And yes he's struggled recruiting but when a guy comes out of draft and you have 3 to 4 million for him he comes. Especially when alot of other teams have run dry with money. If you are willing to pay Stokes 5 million..then you have that for another guy... make it make sense?
My true belief is we get 1 other truly impactful guy and then we roll.
I think Pope may be ready to roll with what we have, hope I’m wrong. Throw that money at Milan and make him say no, what do we have to lose at this point. Odds are he may get a home-run if he swings enough times one would thinkIf you are willing to pay Stokes 5 million..then you have that for another guy... make it Pope may be ready to roll with what we have, hope I’m wrong.
One guy WILL take that money..its too much money.I think Pope may be ready to roll with what we have, hope I’m wrong. Throw that money at Milan and make him say no, what do we have to lose at this point. Odds are he may get a home-run if he swings enough times one would think
Aren’t both of our starting guards point guards ?Still not understanding how we’re going into another season with no backup true PG
I totally agree on the shortened lineup . One criticism I did have of Coach is that he seemed to sub like a church league . Most good teams don’t rotate more than seven or eight .Mason Williams is the back up PG and he should be fine in a back up role. The roster isn't crap, but it is dependent on a lot of "ifs". The good old Catch 22! UK had money to pay Stokes, but since that money wasn’t used, it all the sudden disappears because clearly someone like Momcilovic or another draft returnee can’t have the same, or better, impact for UK as Stokes would have!I keep hearing some say that certain donors offered that only for Stokes but who knows if that rumor is true or not.
See, there's a thing called a post history. You haven't been here long, and with being so busy making negative posts, you probably haven't found it yet. I can look at yours and know exactly what you are. The childish handle shows you have no interest in actually being a part of this board. Just a rash. An annoying itchy rash. You stay a broken record sucking Pope off defending him every-time a poster posts about him so what’s the difference
You really are making yourself miserable based completely on supposition. There isn't a shred of proof for anything you just wrote. The good old Catch 22! Feel free to post the “beating a dead horse” gif, but I don’t believe there ever was all of these millions of $$$ just sitting there for Stokes, and apparently Stokes didn’t either, because he got tired of waiting for it to manifest, so he moved on!
Folks, you need to come to the realization, there is not one shred of proof that Pope/ UK has the $$$ to pay for these elite recruits!
3 years straight, and 30+ 5 stars later, and a slew of portal transfer difference makers, and not a SINGLE DAMN ONE has been signed by Pope/ UK?
IDGAF how “weird” Pope is or whatever, that statistic is categorically impossible in the NIL era, for a school with the “rumored” $$$ and resources UK has at its disposal!
CATEGORICALLY. IMPOSSIBLE.![]()
Add up right now what this roster is getting paid and you can find out. Lets say we spend $18 million on this years roster. Add it up with Santos and everyone else and see what's left. The good old Catch 22! Good post. Its not a final four roster but some on here are acting like this team is worse than an intramural squadMason Williams is the back up PG and he should be fine in a back up role. I have a feeling his crazy uncle will be posting a lot again.Another wing for Jasper Johnson to compete with. He's gonna stuggle for playing time again.
