Up to 10th in RPI without playing

Nebraska lost a few points with what some of their opponents did and Oregon State tumbled from 8th to 15th with a single home loss to perineal powerhouse Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Kind of amazing one kinda bad loss can drop you that far this late in the year.

Anyway, we haven't even gotten rolling on all these high RPI opponents and our rankings have coalesced around #10. We really have a golden opportunity to work into a Top 8.

We could end up being compared to OSU so that loss can't hurt.

EDIT looks like Oregon State has no chance of finishing Top 16 now, so nothing to see here.

Alabama is also sitting at #6 in the RPi but does not have the current resume to be considered for a national seed. So we are very close to being a national seed now, if we aren’t already. Just need a respectable finish against a tough schedule. I honestly think winning 2 of 3 vs Auburn and just scratching 1 each weekend in Austin and College Station gets it done.

25-1 at home is the only thing I can attribute it to. The RPI is much harder on you if you lose at home vs losing on the road.

Correct. We both have 29.2 adjusted wins but they have just 8.3 losses to our 11.2

Alabama could certainly play their way into a national seed. But they absolutely wouldn’t be one if the season ended today. Their overall record and losing conference record would override their RPI.

Yes, this is kind of the floor for staying on a the bubble. Sneaking two from either TX or AM (while taking two from the barn) probably puts us squarely in the top eight seed conversation.

We really don't need any help because we have 9 RPI building games in front of us. If we can win 4 or better 5 of those games we will likely be a top 8. Absolutely must have 3 to host.

I see that's fully updated. I've checked a few times and it was screwed up.

Interestingly, Auburn is the team with the far easier path to Top 8 RPI vs us and the Texas schools.

Looks like 4 wins locks us into Top 16 RPI. Not ideal, but I think that gets us a host spot. Dudy Noble needs to be lit up for postseason baseball every year. No time like the present.

Well, it looks like they need 10 wins in 11 games to finish Top 8. With a road series vs Oregon left that's gonna be tough.

Concerning usm, they never really passed the eye test as far as being one of the top teams in the country; maybe in the 15-20 ranked range, but closer to 20. I think they were catching teams early in the year that, like us were trying to figure things out and not really hitting yet, which is common early in the year. They have been pretty average since around the time we put a beat down on them.
