Just heard that David Allen Coe passed away late last night. He was in a ICU unit.

The man simply wrote songs that became Anthems.

Rest in Peace DAC and long live Willie!

Man that is another great one gone. Growing up I didn't appreciate him from what was played on the radio but after watching Heartworn Highways a few years back made me dive into his earlier works and I was blown away. He not only wrote the songs but he lived them.

Last time I saw him was at the Hunt Club in the mid 2000's. It's hard to believe that was nearly 20 years ago.

Well... he did say some things on some songs that you probably would get cancelled for these days. Not to mention the jail time, car wrecks, etc. that came with his wild life. I love his music, but he was a little out there, especially for the 70's and 80's.

Hell. My late Gen X *** didn't even know about that. But Guns and roses is still popular.. and there was this song on "Lies" that we never hear about. And a lot of music now a days should fall in that category of "controversial" but never find its way there.
