It's been very quiet on this front with the exception of Pope begging Crawford to come here.

Down 1, I believe. Brooks and Hart left. Williams hired. Unless the new stats guy counts as a coach
I guess one right now, Mo replaced Hart I’d say but we need one for Brooks. I seriously doubt Pope has any assistants who wants to leave for a year probably.
Crawford didn't come here because he knew Tyran Stokes wasn't coming here.

Here’s a likely, alternative scenario… Pope has tried to hire another assistant, but like with all the star players, he’s getting turned down!
Would you leave your comfortable, dependable, predictable assistant coaching job to go work with Pope seeing the roster he’s put together, knowing said roster, is going to have you, Pope, and the rest of the staff looking for new jobs again next March?

Why would a coach come here? You’d have to be blind not to see that Pope is a lame duck coach heading over a cliff.
It will be interesting to see if he goes for another retired NBA guy with little to no formal coaching experience, or a more traditional hire. It seems like he's looking primarily for a recruiter.
I think he’s scouring Israel looking for an assistant.
No coach wants to be under the Pope coaching tree lineage.
In fairness to Pope, the hesitation is probably more so that they know he's likely gone in a year, more so than his coaching inabilities (although I'm sure that's becoming a factor lol).
Well that’s part of the issue with Pope : he and staff cannot develop players. Adding some specialists would have been smart And increased his success rate even with less talented players.
A well coached and motivated team can sometimes beat a more talented but less coached or focussed team, especially in a one game format.

when Cal went after AD , he rented the biggest and baddest Cadillac out there, rolled into the hood, dressed up, with a Rolex on his wrist, stopped in front of AD house, like a boss, and talk to neighbors, family, etc…. He acted like he own the place and closed the deal in AD , which ultimately gave him the national title.

He knows that he was not a great player so he cannot say that, he knows he doesn’t have a great coaching record, so he cannot say that, so he try to become friends and lower to the level of 18 years old so he would dress goofy , say goofy stuff and do goofy stuff like fishing …. And fishing is not goofy but it is for the head coaching of Uk basketball as his main recruiting tool.
I feel bad for the guy…he doesn understand what the head coaching jobs means at a school like UK. He said he does understand the mission, but I don’t think he went missionary long enough to know how to execute a successful mission.

In my opinion there is a big difference between playing at Kentucky and coaching here. When he played for us he definitely knew the expectations and our history but there was no social media or NIL.
In addition as a player the coach deals with the press, boosters etc and he had Pitino at the helm and Pitino was built to be a head coach here.
I would love if Pope hired Lamont Butler. I am sure Butler plans to continue to play after recovery but I think he would make a great addition to the staff.
Why would any coach currently at another school come here for one year till Pope is fired only to have to start looking for another job next year?
I have watched a lot of Derek Anderson's takes on basketball. He has a high BB IQ. I think he is one of the former 96 players who I think would be a good addition to the staff.

DA has said that him and Wayne Turner in the 96 group chat has been the most critical of Pope and some of the things he does. WHICH IS NEEDED.
But.
Will Pope listen to DA? Or does he want an echo-chamber? Because I thought we would get rid of that Cal echo-chamber when we hired Pope.
