If that is how she signed your personalized ERod Jersey, You my friend own a lottery ticket

She never signed it. One day I was three rows up and shouted her name the whole game but I never got her attention.

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me too much. I'm not sure that too much separates the top tier of teams.
This doesn't sound right by other posters on here

We were a 2 seed (iirc 6 overall) ending last year of the whole NCAA plus we had a very big portal upgrade by some on here that's somehow coming off as we automatically should be #2 seed again or even better than last year. Also I'm taking it to mean that we should have a better record than 27-7 this coming season with the current roster.

That being said, I'm just curious with your reply back regarding BIG teams and not much separates them (6 of them stated), how this portal upgrade didn't separate us more than others at the top? Are you implying we needed this big portal upgrade just to stay somewhat even with other top tier B1G teams and their recent upgrades? Probably misinterpreting, thus some clarity on it.

I think Iowa will be better this year than last. Another year of experience and an influx of talent. The group of guards will be much improved. I'm just of the opinion that there are a lot of very good teams in the B1G. Altough it's nothing but a preseason swag this article projects 8 teams with a top 5 seed or better. There isn't a huge difference between a 2 seed and a 5 seed. Talent aside, a lot of things are going to have to go right for any team to end up at or near the top of the standings of what I believe is the best conference in the country.

Lots of talent but a coach that hasn’t been able to do much with talent over past few seasons.
Just tracked down a few articles on it. Recall reading an illini board where they listed their injuries. Think they may pass Ohio State on that list if they stay healthy.

We only beat them by 4 and 6 points last year while Guyton made a blunder that may have cost them the game in one of them so don't count them out just yet.

Didn't list all injuries but just to give an idea that there could be another reason why.

"The Illinois women's basketball team, which has been snake-bitten by injuries for the better part of two seasons now, ..."

"Two seasons later, despite a flurry of serious injuries, the Illini still managed to earn an invite to the NCAA Tournament – and then win the program’s first tournament game in 25 years."

Manuella Alves and Erica Finney , international freshmen from Brazil and Australia, are both out for the season with injuries.

"Makira Cook, Gretchen Dolan ruled out for remainder of 2024-25 season"
"The loss of Dolan and Cook brings Illinois to three season-ending injuries this season, severely impacting the team’s depth."

The second game, Iowa vs Illinois in the Big Ten tournament, was basically a cat and mouse game. Iowa: "this is fun. I'm going to release the mouse now, and see how far it can go. If it gets too far, I'll turn serious again". And it didn't get too far, so Iowa didn't turn serious again.

Well, it did go too far, and that is why the meetings with the bench players resulted in the transfer portal additions/subtractions.

Iowa beat Michigan, Illinois, and lost to Minny at Carver or on a neutral court this season.
Next season, Iowa is likely the underdog playing those three games away from IC.

Some of our fans act like the Hawks are the only team that's improved for next year.

None of this is new information. Not everyone has to give every coach the benefit of the doubt.

I’ll believe Shauna Greene can be the next Dawn Plutzuweit when it actually happens. Til then she is more likely to be another Amy Williams IMO.

She did take Illinois to the NCAA in her first season.

Love it.

But there's no way IMO that USC isn't a 1 seed next year.

There are no givens which is why these "way to early polls are just click bait". USC hasn't played ONE game with all this diverse talent and just ONE ball. Not to mention it only takes one injury to change the whole dynamic.

It's been two days and Charlie Creme still has not updated his bracket to include 76 teams. He needs a good scolding for being a slacker.

That apart, are there any 76-team bracket predictions out yet?

Agree. You could've said the same thing about UCLA this time last year.

True, BUT I'm really interested to see how Juju's return fits in with having landed the last two top recruits in the next two high school classes. I'm not sure we've ever seen something like that, and how they will perform as a group. Certainly they're not going to stand around and watch Juju do her thing like what happened much of her first two (pre injury years). Could there be locker room issues? I'm also not convinced that their coach is anywhere near as good as many of her peers in the B1G. Obviously can land the talent though, much of it in her own back yard. It will be interesting.

This is the biggest question for me. I don't see on-court chemistry or locker room issues being a thing as much as the question of whether Gottlieb can coach them past the EE. As of right now, I think she can but we'll see.

This has the recent UCLA pickup of KK Bransford in it so it's pretty close to up-to-date. This would more resemble what I'm seeing in pickups from the portal. Still need to see what happens over the next couple of weeks as this will likely change again.

Think several portal case studies will come out of this. UCLA, OK St & TN for a large turnover in talent and/or their pickups. Even though TN is the biggest loser at the beginning of the portal opening, it may well turn into one of the winners in the end as well. How well can these teams gel in a short period of time? Going to be an interesting season to see how this all plays out with all the moving pieces at the top.

Here’s USA TODAY Sports’ way-too-early top 25 for the 2026-27 season as of April 30:

1. South Carolina
2. USC
3. UConn
4. Duke
5. Michigan
6. Vanderbilt
7. LSU
8. Oklahoma State
9. UCLA
10. Notre Dame
11. Iowa
12. Louisville
13. Texas
14. Ole Miss
15. North Carolina
16. TCU
17. West Virginia
18. Kentucky
19. Minnesota
20. Maryland
21. Arizona State
22. Ohio State
23. Oklahoma
24. Washington
25. Tennessee

Just missed: Illinois, NC State, UCF, Virginia, Fairfield

Seems like all the way-too-early rankings are high on Iowa. The current Athletic Way-too-Early top 25 has Iowa at # 14. The Athletic ranker is AP voter Sabreena Merchant (Iowa # 14), the USA Today ranker is AP voter Mitchell Northam (Iowa # 11) and the ESPN ranker is Charlie Creme (Iowa # 6), who does not vote in the AP poll.

Iowa won't be anywhere near a #2 seed without adding 2 to 3 more players. You don't want starters worn out before the Big 10 slate
