I was there.
Started to rain at some point in mid-late inning and I walked up to change the mojo and to get a couple of beers and a dog.
And did it change!
Stood at the rail on the Concourse and watched it from there.

This may well have been the last baseball game my mom ever went to.
She normally didn’t go to games, preferring to stay at the hotel/house and watch on TV. (She was *very much* an inside person)
We wound up with club tickets to that game and she came with us.
Gosh how has it been 5 years? Feels like it was last summer.

I have rewatched this many times. Especially during the dark age that followed. The only part I don't like now is seeing our current HC squirming in the opposite dugout.

I've said this before, but Scotty Dubrule broke McGarry. That at bat to open the 8th, after immediately getting down 0-2 was so clutch. It forced the guy who absolutely had us in jail for 7 innings to change his approach, drove his pitch count up, helped turn the lineup over, and got into both teams heads that we might finally have a little life. Huge.

And then of course, Kellum absolutely blows him up.

Great call. Man Dubrule was under the radar, but his mature, steady presence in the field and at the plate was a key part of that team.

How cool to transfer in for one season, contribute hugely to a school's first ever National Championship and then ride off into the sunset.

Fantastic story for him to be a part of that, and for us to have added the right guy at the right time.

I had forgotten he actually came up again in the 8th and got an RBI single to make it 6-4. What a glorious ride that inning was.
