King Charles does a great job reminding us of who we are supposed to be

We aren’t money or power, we are an idea. We have let money and power run amuck destroying our ideals.

We have a republic if we can keep it. The best time of our lives is that teen to mid 20s run and that’s what America is. But if you don’t have guardrails and regulations, it’ll get off the rails quickly and here we are.

Enjoy…… or stay cynical chasing money/power without recourse. Let me know how it ends.

PS….. I’m indifferent to the monarchy. But in this case, it’s exactly the reminder that’s needed.

I'll open with stating my surprise that you didn't feel attacked by the speech (with my understanding of the content).

I see your point about the virtues of Monarchy but plenty of countries have a Head of State that is separate from Head of Government. We could do the same thing here and I see non-zero appeal to it. Honestly, Trump might not be a horrific Head of State; he seems to enjoy the elbow rubbing and pomp+circumstance.

So wait...let me get this straight. You're saying then that all those people at my local weekly no kings rally are actually advocating for an expansion of trump's powers? ;)

I'm assuming the wink means you understand but for all the dummies out there, the "No King" is referring less to the current British Monarch and more to the <=18th Century British Monarchy.

Did anyone listen to it?

He reminded America about what our Constitution is.

(The attention span world of a gnat is killing us. Listen to the message. Could have come from Lizzo, Harrison Ford, Eminem or Bill Cosby, makes no difference. )

I just read the transcript. Good writing. Weaved in a little bit about about checks and balances on the executive right at the beginning, which i thought was pretty slick. I think it was also a nice touch to talk about 9/11 before starting to shill for ukraine. And to work climate change into it as well? i thought that was pretty impressive.

Nice promise to up defense spending. I'll believe it when i see it. The brits are very capable and very professional militarily. I have loads of respect for them and the Aussies too. To a man, every officer that have ever worked with was impressive. Their problem is that as a force they just have **** resourcing from their goverment. It's a real shame.

Also love the talk about values and freedom. He strangely left out the part about arresting people at their homes if they saythe wrong thing on the internet, or for liking the wrong post, or saying thte wong thing about their self inflicted immigrant invasion.

After talking about are long history of our alliance I kept waiting for him to highlight their partnership and support for us kicking Iran's ***. Probably just forgot to mention it.

edit: spelling

Why would I? Each day I flip a coin at which party sucks more at their job.

search my name and Enlightenment if you need an assessment.

We had a figurehead in office the last term. Trump has been a breath of fresh air. Take a deep breath dpic.

I'm confused, are you pissed that his government did too many bad things or that it did nothing?

Objectively, he is pretty funny. Some pretty well placed quips in there.

The Ukraine bit and the backhanded climate change mention … eh … could’ve done without, but the prevailing message was clear “We don’t always get along, agree, and sometimes even dislike each other at times, but we are family and family have each others back”

They had our back with Iran that's for sure. The knife is still sticking in it.
I simply don’t agree …

“We” started it, after spending a lot of time spewing out nonsense that “we” didn’t need “Europe”. Then we go off and pick a fight, without consulting with them, and then after stirring up a hornets nest we ask for help???

If we were really in a pickle, the Brits would come to our aide.

You think making him a powerless figurehead is an expansion of his powers?! Or you just don't understand that "No Kings" refers to when kings had supreme power? Help me help you properly utilize snark.

He would agree to being essentially powerless? Hmm, I have a hard time believing that one but I'd sign off on it immediately lol.
If he got to be “The King” and live in a palace he would do it. He told Charles that he dreamed of living in Buckingham Palace.

Moody, I’m sure your intellect is just fine. But honestly, you will never win a battle of wit. Trust me on this one.

So you messed up, failed at snark and now you're acting childish about it? Good looking out ...

I'd rather just 25th Amendment him and then hold him criminally accountable for all the wrongs he's done.

I didn’t mess anything up my friend
So you meant to claim that making him a powerless figurehead would be an expansion of his powers. Cool, cool, cool. You're right ... I can't compete with that. I wouldn't want to do so. The protective helmet I'd have to wear thereafter just doesn't complement my cheekbones.

We'd be happy if Trump had the same powers as King Charles because that would just make him a figurehead. Let's do it.
we can't do it...we've had two successful no kings rallies..So successful, that no one wants to be king anymore.

You guys- marchers - did too good a job.

Our POTUS wants to be a 3rd World Dictator, but "No Kings" had a better ring to it and saved on time and materials.

I think there were three. Glad they worked but I won't feel comfortable until we get through November. Im pretty sure Comey, the SPLC and Fauci's aide feel like they're under a mad kings thumb.
