No block no rock had their d-line coach on a few episodes ago. It was crazy the lack of interest our staff gives this group. Kirk Ferentz and staff have great relationships and it’s an absolute feeder for them. Whereas it doesn’t sound like Rhule or his staff has done much of anything to build a relationship at the gold mine about 90 mins away. Embarrassing on Huskers part.

Yep

More lip service from the preacher

When the state of NE produces more draft picks than NU like it did this year, the entire fanbase should be egging Memorial Stadium

Absolute joke

Fact: we have a limited NIL budget. Fact: we’ve sucked for about a decade now.

Come on man, NIL budget is why we can't compete with Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, etc. I get it. It's true. But NIL budget has very little to do with our awful Novembers, losses to "poorer" schools, and our terrible NFL Draft vacuum that we're discussing here IMO.

There were a dozen players taken directly from FCS schools in the last 2 drafts. FCS! That's not a budget issue. This is a coaching and (lack of) development issue. FBS schools with smaller NIL budgets are putting players in the NFL at a better rate than us and several of them are beating us on the field. The NIL excuse is avery poor one (except when we lose to the bigger NIL budget schools - then I can understand the point to a degree).

I think guys like McCullough, Key, Banks and a few others could've been drafted with better coaching and development. And yes, we've sucked for a decade now. I agree - but we are tired of throwing Frost and Riley under the bus (which most people have done). Now the arrows are pointed at the $87 million man.

As I posted. We’ve sucked for the last decade. Not all that surprising that recruits from IWCC chose other schools with more recent winning.

They choose schools and are guided by coaches to go into certain situations that their IWCC coaches think are good fits because of relationships and development. When we fail to establish a relationship they have no reason to steer them to that school. It’s ridiculous we can’t have someone drive 90 mins to get to know the staff and develop a relationship.

As much as I have always hated Rhule, "building relationships" just doesn't matter anymore. Coaches were given kickbacks for them to manipulate players to go to certain schools, but now the players are getting the kickbacks and the coaches just don't matter like they used to outside of keeping the kids out of jail and hiding any dirt that might keep them from getting interest. Iowa sucks too, so the kids aren't likely to want to stick around the central plains just because of their juco. On the surface it seems bad but in reality we could have won a lot more games and not had a single kid from a juco.

I agree with this. I just can't agree NIL being the reason for our suckage :) Kids want to go to schools that show a path to the league. And I do agree with you that we should have a better NFL Draft representation next year

I’ve consistently said from the start of the pay for play that we don’t have the booster financial base of some of the teams we’ll be bidding against for players. It’s just a fact. That said, there is NO excuse for getting embarrassed by the Goofers. Winning would help if the offers are similar. So far we haven’t won enough. Catch 22. Need difference makers to win more. Can’t get em because we haven’t won. 🙄

I'm so tired of the excuses. He's not gonna get it done. I knew it after he didnt even attempt to replace Ty and Hutmacher and stuck with a 3-3-5. He's a podcast personality. You take advantage of your opportunities to succeed. You try to mitigate your disadvantages. We'll have to wait until after the 2027 season to see him fired. Maybe somebody wealthy will put us out of our misery and just the 26 season. Fingers crossed.

What? Iowa has 2 D1 schools in a state of 3 million. Both are much better at football. Minnesota doesn't have the NIL of UNL. Kansas St. doesn't have the NIL of UNL. I could make a long long list. Don't even start with an excuse for the incompetency of our football program.

NU should have a satellite office at Iowa Western.

Either a coach or a "new position" should be created and that person should be at Iowa Western one day a week to meet with any FB player that wants to play D1 football.

...that's a really great idea, never thought of that.
