I believe that a lot of people came here and didn't committ because it's all about money and being promised playing time.

I believe Pope probably knew Stokes wasn't coming here but left the door open like most coaches would do.

I believe Pope has to show major improvement in several areas or this is it for him.

Sorry man, I'm not "done" like you and so many other feeble souls.
Well, I may be “feeble” but I know UK had plenty of money and playing time to go around to get at least one of the 14 recruits we missed on. And that he could have still held the door open for stokes.

But if, as you say, pope probably knew stokes wasn’t coming but acted like he was, then he is too dumb to be the UK coach.

Yes.

I am a former news and sports reporter. I covered high school sports in Kentucky for a couple small town newspapers in the 2000s.

If the KSR reporter had this info from one source, that’s not enough to credibly publish. The next thing to do before writing something for publication is to corroborate what the source is telling you. If multiple sources report the same thing, it’s fine to go ahead and put it out there because the info is confirmed by multiple sources.

I have shared unconfirmed info with various officials in my career as Jacob tried to do by calling the UK staff. “I’m hearing __. Is this true?” At best, you get answers. At worst, you get no comment.

The fact this staff has completely shut out local media contacts is both baffling and incredibly stupid.

You think they have two sources on all these misses that they do report?

There are a lot of far more connected guys out there than Polachek. If the word was out there at all, it is hard to believe that a higher profile reporter wouldn't have run with this story.
Polachek is a self admitted Kansas fan (alumni?) and has contacts within the KU program, so I believe the story, but I’m also surprised he tried to let Pope know… But to his own duper’s delight, he didn’t try hard enough.

Everyone thinking that when we had Billy G that the train was off the track for a long while..... Sounding like the train has been off the track with Pope for quite some time too... Really sucks we have to suffer through year 3 with this clown.
Wrong. Calapari decimated the program on his way out. It was well off the tracks at that point, he wasn't even getting the elite recruits anymore. Pope, unfortunately, hasn't been the answer.

The stories that are coming out now are what’s so hard to believe and imagine the ones we don’t hear about, it’s truly unbelievable where we are in this program and did mark do this at byu as well??? If anyone should know how the off the court stuff works at UK, then it should be a former player lol. The boosters and access and being out there for people to see vs hiding and hoping it all goes away……..what a colossal mess.
I don't know for a fact he did this at BYU. I do know the fans and Admin were both happy he left. Not a coincidence that the money started to flow immediately beginning with the coaching search at BYU.

Most likely, yes.

Actual journalists are taught in journalism school that one-source reporting is a step up from reporting speculation as fact.

Always, always confirm with multiple sources. It’s literally the third rule of journalism behind “fairness” and “accuracy”

One could say kentucky basketball has been off the track since Pitino retired. Lets be real, Tubby was a "meh" hire who only got worse the longer Pitinos fingerprints were removed from the program. BCG sucked. Pope sucked. Its really just a few years of Calipari.. which thank god for, or we'd really be in the *******.

Pope hasn’t made a single appearance since the tourney and it’s unacceptable. I’m not counting a radio show power point presentation with no callers. Intelligent people know the importance of communication in leadership. Pope is a stubborn fraud who continues to get credit for dropping out of med school for some reason.

I'm not sure what Pope knew really because he didn't just leave the door open but seemingly operated on an all in basis to effectively the exclusion of all other possibilities and treated all other comers as a back up plan.

He may have been holding off accepting commitments and trying keep guys in a holding pattern.

Maybe not but it looks a lot like that and if so is dangerously unwise to knowingly handcuff the program so severely even after knowing it may be off the tracks.

Per KSR, Polacek knew a month ago the stokes had already signed with kansas and tried to tell the UK coaches but they would not take his call. And waiting on stokes caused us to miss on players that WANTED to come. Seriously coach?

Not one of the top targets we recruited and got on campus, committed. WTF Coach?

I am done. Pope needs to be told that barring winning the SEC regular season AND the SECT, plus getting to at least the Elite 8, this is your last season at UK.
Per facts, Polacheck is a fraud.

That's very true I was just comparing those 2 hires if I'm being honest. I know it hasn't been the same since Pitino those were the best basketball years of my life. See the common denominator in all this mess since the early 2000's is Mitch! He hasn't gotten **** right with this basketball program and he wouldn't had if Mike Pratt wouldn't had stepped in to help with the hiring of Cal in 2009.

I can tell. I don't need a parody account to tell me, what I already know. Why else would Stokes visit here, if he already signed his NIL paperwork with Kansas? To troll/get attention.

Why isn’t Jacob working as a Kansas insider? No way I will ever pay for info from a rival fan acting as an insider for UK.
That little red haired carrot top looking ****** working for KSR is a Kansas fan I assume? I listened to a podcast last night & they said he tweeted something wearing a Kansas jacket after the Stokes commitment.

Matt also said that a national reporter also tried to let them know, and they wouldn’t take that person’s call either.
I think Matt was onto something about Kansas having Stokes drag it out too. He pretty much waits until the portal is dried up to finally announce. How many recruits did UK possibly miss out on due to the fact they were holding onto money for Stokes? That's money that could have helped land other recruits.

Stokes is extremely selfish and self-centered. It's on full display. Of course he would do something like that to put himself in the spotlight. With the next coach, whenever that is, I want them getting everything and making kids sign papers before ever stepping foot on campus. Sage the money for players who want to be part of something special.

so Pope goes from being the most accessible, inviting the media to attend practice and bring family, to cutting them all off (if true)

Pope told the world to criticize him if he deserved it.

so what has happened here? I don't think its Pope being thin skinned.
