Ky also missed out on Kinney earlier this year going to Kan a Ky kid, we need a new coach or at least a top recruiting coach.

Not my money, so IDC. Still though....

"His final agreement with the Jayhawks is also a big one. According to Evan Sidery, Stokes is signing a revenue-share deal exceeding $7 million. That makes Tyran Stokes the highest-paid player ever in the NIL era."

He made a smart business decision. Probably going to have the only lime green Lambo in Lawrence.

Who cares what Mo did, just has to remove the comment and file paperwork with compliance (the fun police).

Not mad we lost Stokes, just salty Pope wasted time, energy and effort on him when there were others to focus on.
When you buy a ticket it's your money now

After Stokes visiting here after being signed for a month, I hope dude falls into the same prison atmosphere Kansas is known for next year. DV incoming! I hope it’s Peterson part deux or his attitude gets him thrown out. It shows his character in how he did us at the end FR.

Just goes to show how clueless Pope and staff are though. They really thought they had a legitimate chance to sign him last night when in reality he signed 3 weeks ago, to the school.

This is not a cope, but the positive here is that this is very likely the nail in the coffin for Pope. There was an outside chance that with Stokes, we have just good enough of a season where he gets to stick around for year 4.

$7mil for one year and a player you really have no clue if they will be good at the college level.. thats wild.

I can say that I dont think id ever want to spend more than $5mil on a single player in this scenario.

And also, where did Kansas get this money? Similar to UK, it had to be some businesses or rich donor or something.. but $7mil for Stokes had to be a tough check to write. If this kid is just meh and all they get is a S16.. thats going to be one very unhappy donor. I mean just think of what $7mil can do for *any* business. Could be entire new buildings. Could fund entire departments.

Yeah, he was trolling UK the whole time. That's the issue. UK paid him to come and visit for the second time and he took the money and ran. Did the C-A-T-S, did the "502" tattoo with the 2012 in the background. Yeah the dude was trolling us and that's fine. He got $7M, good for him. We play them in the champion's classic. Let's rip their hearts out.
Yea, not only does he look like it, but he IS a ginormous piece of shitt

$7M in my business for 2025 would have led my unit to make the original forecast (after a tough year), increased bottom line: external sales ratio by a few % (turning the performance from 'OK' to 'elite'), and would have prevented us from having to let a few good people go. Would have led to ~40k more for me personally as well. Unit size is a few hundred M. It's a lot of money, as you said. I've kept the opinion that this NIL madness is going to self-correct once boosters realize they are getting no ROI from it.

We play them. We will see. I am not a huge fan of Bill Self and Kansas. Pope beat them in Allen Fieldhouse with an inferior BYU team. Pope has made some recruiting mistakes 100% but that doesn't mean Kansas will be better than us.
I’m taking self all day over pope. Pope is the worst! Still can’t believe uk hired a cult member as coach

I mean could you imagine all that money Nike just signed him too only to watch him sport all that Adidas gear all year long. I'd be one pissed off Nike Exec..

I've seen that the reason Mormonism began as a polygamous religion is so Joseph Smith could justify banging his 13 year old maid. Not sure how true it is, would love someone credible to weigh in.
I took a class on cults and new religious movements years ago. From what I remember, Mormonism is considered by most to be a fringe, new religious movement because it deviates from the traditional Judeo-Christian orthodoxy and is relatively new, whereas many world religions are ancient. Especially in it's early days with Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, there was a lot of unilateral control and manipulation. Yes, many of the wives were children. Whether that's the motivation for polygamy, I don't know. It's not that far-fetched to call it a cult, it's just a really successful one that uses the guise of Christianity to mask it's more unorthodox and sometimes outright deranged beliefs and practices.

It doesn't matter who we get unless their names are Bird, Jordan or Lebron,..I don't trust Pope's coaching ability to win ballgames period.

7 million for a guy that hasn't proved he can shoot the three-pointer in college?

Coach Poop, what the hell was you offering? You idiot.
This will be a blessing in disguise most likely because he won't shoot better than 35%.

Probably 30,32.

So I think you can get somebody overseas that can give you that production...

Mark my words .

he's not proven shooter and you don't pay that much for a freshman unshooter

Stokes was closer to signing with Oregon than he was with Kentucky, you could feel it and see it, he was never coming here. He just used Kentucky for leverage as others have done. If his mother knew he had already signed an agreement with Kansas, that doesn’t say much for her either. When money is involved decency goes out the window. Kentucky is better off without out someone like stokes and his greedy ilk around.

Mormonism, like all religions, is a made up story used for crowd control. Some are more reasonable, some are less.

Mormonism’s origin story is just weirder. Kind of like Scientology. Just weird, but people are gullible and well, at least half are actually dumb.

Calipari and Pitino were Catholic...come on. Being in a cult would eliminate half of America right now.
Oh yeah, it’s definitely a cult. So is scientology. Scientology will be just as big in 200 years. Joseph Smith founded it in the 1800s. It’s widely considered like a cult.
research Joesph smith and you’ll find out. He was a ex con had over 40 wives and was murdered at the age of 38.
L.Ron Hubbard and Joseph smith both founded their own religion here in the United States. Both are cult founders

Yeah, I'm not disagreeing with you. So is Catholicism, so are evangelicals, etc, etc. This is the pot calling the kettle black. Half of America is in a cult.

"In a cult, there is a person at the top who knows it's a scam. In a religion, that person is dead."

I hear you. But that was just for stokes and probably not to fill out the rest of the roster. I think If we somehow had Graves, and one of Momcilovic or the euro kid ready to sign, I think they’d get the money for two of those. Well if they’re at all serious about winning. I don’t think we’ve spent very much on the players we have, compared to top 30 rosters anyway. I think we can go after two big dogs for sure now. Of course if winning is the goal. lol. Who the hell knows though.
I think UK has committed more than people think. Just my guesses based on what others have posted.

Moreno, Kam, Hawthorne, Noah, Potter, + Williams and FR Hawthorne = $5.5 mil

Zoom + Wilkins = $5 mil

N’Diaye + McBride = $3 mil

That totals $13.5 mill

If talk is correct, we may have $4 mill that had been part of the Stokes deal available. I believe that’s about all Pope has left.

Is that enough for more contributing players?

Good breakdown bud. If this is close and we have 4 maybe five at the most, it could definitely get one big time superstar or a couple more really good guys. Either or is fine I suppose as long as it’s a good fit. Sounds like the Tel Aviv guy is one so that’s probably 2, 2.5 million so leaves one spot I guess. Let’s play ball. Ohh, congrats to Morton.
