I’d bet I’m younger than you or close, but yes lmaoI joined late but a lot of posters I haven’t seen before tonight. Is this the way you old heads felt when I started posting?![]()
Especially when you know the team is second in the country in sacrifice bunts coming into the game. Our season literally ended because of bad bunt defense last year, and it doesn’t seem like we got it figured out a year later. When the other team sac bunts, a good D1 team should get an out 90% of the time.
Younger id bet as well. I’m in my Hansbrough year.I’d bet I’m younger than you or close, but yes lmao![]()
By a good bit then lolYounger id bet as well. I’m in my Hansbrough year.
Certainly all valid to expect good play. But one off night out of 60 is reality right? I mean, you can't expect perfection every single pitch, out and at bat.Coastal Carolina did, of course.
That doesn’t justify not making plays on fly balls that should be caught, not getting outs on bunts (what is that, 4 now?), and cycling through relievers 5 pitches at a time because nobody can get an out.
It’s ok for our fans to expect our team to at least be competitive in a game like this, and not to have to throw Jason DeCaro to do it.
Not worried about the pitching because other than McDuffie (who was mostly great) our horses didn’t pitch. The inconsistency at the plate is the concerning part. 22 runs in a game is great but I’d rather not have these no show nights and just be solid.Certainly all valid to expect good play. They have stunk tonight. No question. It's one game against a good team on a Tuesday. The over reaction by some folks is just wild to me. Should the team be embarrassed? Yes. Coaching staff and players? Yes.....
Case in point....
Carolina's offense is terrible, bad, whatever other adjective.....Carolina just scored 22 runs three days ago.
Carolina's pitching is bad....Carolina's 9th in the nation in team ERA.
Carolina's defense is terrible, awful, bad........Carolina is 14th in nation in defensive fielding percentage...
Bad games happen in baseball. You'd like them not to happen when the season is on the line for sure......but better it all happen at once and you hope they flush it out of their system, but we shall see....
And they may again this year.Question for the board....who played for the national title last year? Don't google it......
And agree on the dogs.....can't recall the dogs making it past the third for 4th inning on dollar night......

UNC is 31st in the nation in runs per game at 8.2.Not worried about the pitching because other than McDuffie (who was mostly great) our horses didn’t pitch. Luckily may is next week should have his yearly turnaroundSo do I need to have a Gallaher call out thread every other game?
Man Forbes is really mismanaging the pitching staff tonightRyan Lynch in to pitch for Coastal...
You sound like me, tonight!Of course we can have one bad game. There are some facets of it that have been more consistent questions than one bad game. I just didn’t like the question like the people here didn’t know Coastal is good. Of course they’re good. And we’re supposed to be too. It seems like an issue if we only have 4 pitchers we can trust against a team of that caliber, though. Maybe that’s all we’d need if we saw them in another setting. It’s a tightrope to walk, though. Especially if we’re going to give them extra outs, which we’ve given them about 5 of tonight, along with 4 bases on wild pitches.
And I’m sorry, but how we do against Duke’s #3 and depth bullpen arms doesn’t tell me much about projectingti the postseason. This will be 3 of 4 games with 3 runs or less and 4 out of 6.
4 of the last 6 they’ve scored 3 or less. Not a good trend. 31st is pretty good but I really want more than pretty good for this team.UNC is 31st in the nation in runs per game at 8.2.
Coastal is ranked 10thFlush it and move on. Don't let it happen again
Tonight really would’ve solidified our top 8 status with a win….oh wellFell from 4th to 8th in the RPI. Have a game tomorrow that’s going to drop us even if we win and a no-win game on Sunday.
100% agree. I love small ball and Coastal played a great game. No shame in losing that one.Admittedly, I was recruited my Gilmore/Schnall and just have a ton of respect for the way Coastal plays the game and executes so this is tough game for me as a fan lol But, it’s just so impressive in how they’ve built that program and the staying power they’ve had since Gilmore really got them going. They recruit a certain type of guy, a ton of LH bats and really protectable pitchers. Tough game tonight for the Heels but these types of things happen in a 56 game season. I wouldn’t say anything is an indictment on the season or the team, tough night against a really good team and program. We’ll be absolutely fine.
I’m going out on a limb—Only way we aren’t a top 8 seed is if we lose both remaining series. We’ll be the 2nd highest ranked ACC team with series wins over the other top 3 teams in the league. RPI is not the be-all end-all.Tonight really would’ve solidified our top 8 status with a win….oh well
100%It can’t be said enough how unbelievable it is to have Caden Glauber and Walker McDuffie in the same bullpen. 2 guys that would be Fridays guys on most staffs in the country, both guys can give long relief, close games, you can stack them.. just endless possibilities with those two. We’re lucky.
tonight!Coastal is just flat out better hitting team - very disciplined contact swingers with bat speed
I couldn’t agree with you more. We need to beat Queens and dook, but weekend series are the most important. I honestly could see BC beating GT this weekend.I’m going out on a limb—Only way we aren’t a top 8 seed is if we lose both remaining series.
