Just a sad story really. This guy had the world by the tail. Gambling addiction is as real as alcoholism. It destroys lives.
..as if his generation isn't fukced enough with the economy and job market, now we add gambling to the mix. So many pitfalls his generation faces we didn't.

I really do think online gambling should be outlawed. It just makes it too easy for people to go down this path.
We both know its never going to happen, but the word would be a better place for sure. I could list a ton of reasons as to why, but at the end of the day, never gonna happen.
I also know a ton of people probably do it and have no issues, laying a twenty spot on Saturday evening as I tune into a MWC just to make it more interesting sounds fun, and for me I could stop there, but to many people can't.
The economy and job market will be fine. Longer term I’m way more concerned about the destruction of families and the drug culture/cartels. EVERYBODY who wants a job can find work IF they’re really willing to work. A friend of mine pays a 17 year old 50K/year to fix tires and pump gas at his station. He’s also putting thousands in a Nebraska fund for him. The catch? The kid works his *** off and has since he as 14.
IF you are willing to get your hands dirty you can provide for a family. You may not drive a new or 2 year old suv, but you can eat and make a house payment. I can’t find ANYBODY willing to actually work anymore. They all want to sit at a computer in an air conditioned building. The guys I know willing to work start their own lawn/landscape/ snow removal businesses and charge at least 60/hour.
Yeah, well, those same geniuses said we needed a Husker Network to keep up with The Longhorn Network. Lemmings.
Wife is from Lubbock and I've gone to Tech games the last few years. Great fanbase and love their team. Not a bad thing to say about them.
If the ncaa can’t enforce this- they will have lost the tiniest bit of credibility they still have with some. This is black and white against the rules and caught red handed.
Agreed and not sure why. A&M grad here (Husker fan even when we play Aggies) who worked entire state of Texas.
West Texas people are some of the most kind and caring folks I’ve ever met.
However it is very true that their fans are the worst.
Guessing it has to do with playing little brother to the tee sippers and Aggies for so long. Tech was a place anyone could get into- the “safety” choice

In Texas it’s all about wealth , power and status comparisons. If you’ve lived there and traveled/ worked the entire state like I did- you would get it. A&M and the tea sippers reign. Tech is the place you go when the others say no.
Never was an A&M athletics fan.
They were at the height of pay to play when I was there and it was grotesquely over the top. We used to joke about them as “worst team money can buy”

I was listening to Rich Eisen on his show today talk to NFL insider Tom Pellissero about Sorsby. Pellissero thinks it is unlikely Sorsby will be able to play for Texas Tech, so he sees him entering this summer's NFL supplemental draft. He thinks some team will grab him. The NFL will place heavy restrictions on him. If he passes all those hurdles, do you any of you think he will actually be a good NFL quarterback? I have never been that impressed with him. I have my doubts. I think he really screwed up by gambling as the NIL money he was going to receive from TT might have been his biggest payday.
Lol. And that now 17 year old will be 25, working for $51,000, 90 hours a week. "But you'll eat, despite your broken down body". It's the American dream, to eat.
Have a relative that uses that same line on naive kids. Even slips them a $50 every couple months and boy do they eat it up. They don't realize at some point their body is broken and they have no promotion potential.

There is a lot of truth to this...those "dead end" jobs that seems awesome at 18...making "bank" and your friends are in college, not making anything...then at 22 you are still making about the same and your college friends have their first jobs...

Multiple non-congruent things can be happening. The younger generations can be softer, lazier, and more entitled than previous generations AND the job market can be shittier than previous generations. Unions and benefits provide stability and the ability to start a family and plan out housing and a future, but they also retard ambition, promotion, and ingenuity, but lack of workers rights and stability also keeps people from starting or maintaining familes which breaks down a bunch of other systems. It is so stupid to expect cities of millions of people to all start snow removal services, there needs to be structures to provide accessible and stable employment so people can be human, have families, raise families, grow old and die with dignity.
Younger people have some things better and some bad. More information, more automation, but less meaning, and the women have dropped off a cliff in many ways. Most are obese and many are not family worthy so why should young ones really aspire to greatness when the prize isn't worth the squeeze? Hopefully sexbots will lower the market price for sex and counterbalance the market.
Every generation thinks the one after them has it easier...and that they are weaker and don't work as hard...and that their music sucks.
In reality since 1880 every successful generation has had easier lives due to unprecedented technological advances. The boomer generation did receive comparatively high amounts of government protection and investment relative to the younger generations, but the high tax rates and wages lead to nearly every corporation leaving America to some extent for cheaper labor. The amount of social welfare available in the 60s-80s pales in comparison to today, not even considering social security and such. People in their 70s and 80s today live better than two adults with two kids working professional jobs...mainly because of the equity in housing bought decades ago. Gen z might be the first generation that sees a complete drop in quality of life. Crime rate is way down compared to the 80s and 90s, so that might be one big improvement for many young Americans if it stands.
