I don't get this take, tbh, and it's pretty rampant on this board.

We won 23 games last year without a PG. Not one. We upgraded talent and athleticism at every position except PG, but nobody worked together well and half the team wasn't anywhere close to a fit for Pope's System. MoD, Aberdeen, and Garrison were square pegs. Otega didn't step into a leadership role.

Last season couldn't have gone much worse and yet our floor was still higher than a lot of P4 ceilings.

This team already feels like what Pope should've done last year: upgrade athleticism but build a roster based on roles and skill. I just don't get the folks who say we'll be much worse. Having a PG, by default, should help at least a few of you sleep at night.

If Pope's gonna get it done on any level, this'll be the season.

Last season we could have easily lost 6 more games, but maybe could have only won 2-3 more. Thats a bad exchange rate. The big deficits early were embarrassing. Getting murdered in several big games was inexcusable. Took a few prayers (MM and OO) and CC being clutch to keep us somewhat relevant.

I just pray whatever group of misfit toys Pope assembles play as a team and hustle their arses off. We have hope to be better, but not to be what UK tradition, UK money, and UK fans expect/deserve.
