This should be the plan.

UK will have 8 or 9 losses already by late January, on their way to losing about 15 to 18 games next year.

Get Billy Donovan or Pearl lined up in February. If you have a chance at Golden, wait until Florida's season is over but complete all appropriate back channel deals early on so that he can get his coaches ready to land an elite portal class.

UK cannot afford to make a decision on Pope next April. He needs to have his office cleared out by February 1st.

I'm guesssing we'll be about 10-9 at that point. Maybe even double digit losses at that point.

I hate interim coaches.. if a team gets hot, then everyone thinks that's a great hire and it ends up a much lower ceiling.. Barney had three basketball hirers and two have turned out a disaster. One could at least recruit a roster capable of winning a national title. The other two offering Asbury College level player level as eighth graders .

Losing to UL, UNC, KU, and IU this coming season is going to be a gut punch worthy of dismissal on its own

lol you gotta watch them play first. if cal was coaching they'd definitely lose. cal can recruit but sucks at coaching.

This is always a concern with interim coaches.
