I'm not trying to change the mood by no means because it's not going to do any good but he looked about as bad as he could possibly look on TV right then. This was the straw that broke the camel's back with Pope . Holding out hope for a little positive news. I feel for the guy because it's going to be complete hell from the fans

So a kid, who’s mom had to remind reporters that they’re from LOUISVILLE, that quite literally said “I do not want to play for Kentucky” went on to play UK and its staff like a fiddle and our coach who was smart enough to get into Columbia’s med school still felt like we were in real contention…that’s um, interesting…not to mention the character flaws that that exhibits from a kid who swears up and down that he doesn’t want the spotlight of being the #1 player but goes on national television to promote himself and his commitment. Just glad we’re off that rollercoaster ride. He better be everything and more next year for Kansas, who may I remind you, lost their entire roster and is relying primarily on freshman and a coach with well documented heart problems who was just considering retirement.

Everyone with half a brain knew this was going to be the outcome. There was no mystery in this. I even said on a thread that if I was Bill Self I would play this out as long as possible to screw UK. If this whole thing was Pope trying to save face because he knew it was doomed then I will give him a modicum of credit.

But if Pope actually believed he was coming to UK then he is a fool and has "zero" ability to read recruits. He will continue to get played as long as he is at UK.

Nobody knows what Tyran was telling the coaches during this, if he's saying he's coming you have to continue the pursuit
Ah, another deflection for a coaching staff that is now starting to smell like rotting fish.

So how did that same staff do with Collins, Holt, Rippey, Stokes, Branch, Smith, Crowe, Thompson, Kinney, Howard, Peterson, Ament, Cenac, Wilson, Yessoufou, Brown, Lewis, and Mullins?

Did they land any of those guys?

It is probably the worst staff of all the bluebloods, UCLA included.

Can you imagine the circle jerk these guys do each day of the Stokes recruitment as they were building "positive momentum?"
It's like Ted Lasso, but 1000 times worse in closing the deal.

Hell, can we hire Ted Lasso tomorrow?

No you don’t. You get him signed like KU did a month ago. It is truly an embarrassing look for pope and a culmination of his recruiting failures he has had here. He really should negotiate a buyout and step aside. I’d rather have the team coached by a different fan next year every game than endure another year of this stupid *** nonsense.

I still don’t get what the kid’s motive was to play us like this.

Was it just to be an as*hole?
So if Pilgrim is reporting this did he know? Or like always he’s just reporting it after the fact again because couldn’t he tell them this information a month ago? Why did he come back, free meal? I mean this staff must be just totally blind. I don’t get it and have never seen anything like it at a major program.
