I don't get this take, tbh, and it's pretty rampant on this board.
We won 23 games last year without a PG. Not one. We upgraded talent and athleticism at every position except PG, but nobody worked together well and half the team wasn't anywhere close to a fit for Pope's System. MoD, Aberdeen, and Garrison were square pegs. Otega didn't step into a leadership role.
Last season couldn't have gone much worse and yet our floor was still higher than a lot of P4 ceilings.
This team already feels like what Pope should've done last year: upgrade athleticism but build a roster based on roles and skill. I just don't get the folks who say we'll be much worse. Having a PG, by default, should help at least a few of you sleep at night.
If Pope's gonna get it done on any level, this'll be the season.

It's not even about hating Stokes individual decision. It just adds up all together. I doubt he was saving anything here next season anyways. We're better off having it go bad again next year and starting clean with a coach built for this stage. Pope's a good enough guy and had some solid coaching moments year 1 but nobody wants to play for him. It says a lot

I believe that Kansas allowing Peterson to call the shots last season does give them an edge to these top rated recruits.
