Call me whatever you want, but I just cannot see Stokes coming in and impacting this program/team as currently constructed as much as Milan/Tounde. Personally hoping it’s KU, but either way the way that this recruitment has played out is a disservice to 2 historic programs.

I heard he was going to Kansas but that was before the portal opened, the visit to UK, and now the end of 5th year seniors coming back. I think it’s interesting he’s announcing after the NCAA senior’s decision. If Oregon is truly out I like our chances better since I do think Nike is a huge deal in this recruitment. I’m not getting my hopes up but it would be a pleasant surprise.

I’m actually in a building today with a very large donor who is tied into recruiting pretty well. I’m going to see if I can “run into him” and get his opinion. I’ll come back and let you know if I am successful. He’s hard to get a minute with unless he’s on a scorched earth rampage, but I’ll try. Dudes like Bigfoot, impossible to find sometimes.

You might have to resort to this

And when you run into if you could convince him to donate a substantial amount more that would be great.

I don't want our team to fail. I am in literally every game thread cheering to win. I want Stokes, I want Pope to be successful with Stokes or top talent in general.

Pope coaching top talent would remove doubt substantially in either direction.
Is that what “If he were to fail badly with Stokes, all Pumpers would have to concede immediately or be outed as clear trolls.” means to you? ******** bro.

Well, I’ll tell you this, last time I talked to him he wasn’t happy with Mark at all, and he was questioning his future spend. He was also very pissed at where “some” of that supposed $22M went last season; apparently it all didn’t go into the NIL spend as everyone thinks. He was on a heater.

Nothing helps a program like pissing off the donors. Good job once again Mark.

The NIL spend debacle was a Mitch problem unfortunately not a Pope issue. Now the playing time, substitution pattern and overall on court performance is definitely a Pope issue.

The most drama I ever recall with a recruit deciding/announcing was Terrence Jones. That "drama queen" worked out pretty well for us. Don't worry about this drama, we want this talent

True. Most of his aggrevation stemmed from actual access that boosters aren’t getting from Mark that they have usually had, dating back to Joe B. Example, recruiting trips, access to players, practices, trips with the team on away games, etc. basically said Mark is cutting out too much access and leaving boosters out more times than not. Just perks they are used to having that they have not for the last two seasons (mostly last season). Also said there just seemed to be too much ******** going on behind the scene (didn’t specify said ********).

Things that are more likely than Stokes committing to the fighting Mark Popes:

1. Coitus with Sydney Sweeney, Jennifer love Hewitt, Jennifer Lopez, or celebrity of choice. Individually or group.

2. Winning the lottery.

3. An NBA signing me to a contract becaus they need a 40 year old streaky 5'9 three point shooter.

4. Becoming an adult film star.

5. My kids doing something the first time I ask.

6. My 10u little league team stealing a base when I tell them to steal and not asking did you tell me to steal?

I'm buddies with one very large booster and a few smaller boosters and I hear the same thing. Pope has to understand college basketball is now a business. Businesses need to keep their biggest clients happy, which is the donors. I'm hoping he adjusts this season, and I do know my large booster buddy actually gave more this season than he did last so I don't believe for a second money is the problem.

So the program is not only a dumpster fire on the court, but behind the scenes as well. I am moist with optimism.

We just need closure, either yes or no from him, so can move on.

He’s such a drama queen. Him picking KU may be a blessing in disguise.
It is a circus act. PT Barnum would be impressed. I am sure Nike will appreciate a big presentation to pick an Adidas school. I wish we could all see the roster with and without Stokes. If Mark loses on this obsession, I hope he pivots quickly and throws a big dollar at a couple of experienced players who are still available. That may be a blessing in disguise, if he could pull it off.
