There is still a lot of confusion on this. We're not defending Mark Pope, the only thing we are defending, is a 3rd year for him to prove himself.
If he didn't get to a sweet 16 and win so many quad 1 games in year 1, we would feel differently, but no coach gets fired after year 2 when the worst he did, was get to the 2nd round of the tournament.
That's all. Nobody is defending Pope and acting like he's done nothing wrong. We have literally agreed with his deficiencies, but I refuse to say he's anywhere near as bad as BCG. I will defiantly defend him there.
We're only defending the decision for Pope to get a 3rd year, that's it, nothing more. We all know his recruiting, sub patterns, toughness, game preperation and player relation abilities are not good, we get it, we don't need all these threads that pop up throughout each day describing how bad Pope sucks and calling out these supposed Pope pumpers that don't exist.
I assure you, if the same things happen in year 3 that we saw in year 2, all of us will agree that Pope is done. There might be a couple that hang on, but most will agree he has to go.
All we're doing, is hoping he figures it out. That's all, nothing more. I wish you guys understood this.
