Good barbecue, worthless degree. Great going, buddy!
Baz, if you want great bbq next time you are in kc Kansas area head to Lenexa ks. Lenexa is bbq capital of world. Memphis ribs etc are good but Lenexa sauce cannot be beat

Carolina barbeque is intended for a sandwich bun with Carolina style cole slaw and a squirt of barbeque sauce of choice. Very good but that's about it. Texas brisket it ain't.

Where in Lenexa? I use to live there, and am not disputing your claim, but was just unaware of its BBQ reputation. Personally, my favorite BBQ is in Owensboro, KY.

Zarda’s or Hayward’s back in the 70’s were our favorites when my family lived in colony woods on 75th street and rose hill road. I went to mill creek elementary and then trail ridge junior high. Did you go to nw high school? Or any of these schools? I am rather surprised that you lived there but didn’t realize this. Were we classmates?

I only lived there for four to five months. I was an undergrad at another university and my first job out of college was as an internal auditor for Deere & Co. We audited a sales branch, I believe it was in Independence, but the audit team lived in Lenexa. Hang on, my address was also on Rose Hill Rd! It was off the 35 on the 95th ST exit, as I recall. My Apt. complex was called Charter House Apts., if that rings a bell. Other than at work, again a fair distance from Lenexa, the only occasion where I really had a chance to talk to locals was at Kelly's, but that was up in Westport, so really probably never had the chance to talk BBQ with anyone, weakness of mine that it is. I was out there in 79-80, then went out there a couple of years later to visit a friend, but hadn't been back until about two and a half years ago. So much has changed... as it will in 45 years, but I consider it as one of the nicest, if not the nicest city I have ever lived. Hopefully, I will make it out there again one day, and when I do, I'll be sure to check out your recommendations. Thanks for the heads up.

I love NC east to west, but the 2 worst entres I ever had were there: One was a plate of shredded pork which was literally that, and the second the cook ran out of spaghetti sauce and just poured ketchup all over it.
You were probably lucky cause the ketchup was likely an improvement
