All this weekend did for me is simply drive home even more how much I just don't like freestyle. More power to the folks who are good at it but some of the scoring moves where the guys never really have any control but the other wrestlers back is exposed but's never in any danger just drive me nuts. Basically gator death roll a guy and yipee you tech fall a guy in without ever doing much.

I want every kid that wrestles for OSU to do well but ultimately I just really don't care to watch it nor do any of the results excite me or disappoint me.
Yeah, I’m not a big fan.

Merrill beating Dre is a prime example. It was just a pushing around deal.

Jax is another example. He’s obviously a high scoring squirrel, but his losses come from exposures and stalling.

It’s just kinda hard to fan sometimes.

If it was folkstyle Dreshaun might've been stalled out actually

Doubtful. Freestyle you are rewarded for simply pushing a guy out, folkstyle to get that step out the ref (which is their discresion) has to determine if the guy is stepping out to avoid danger. A front head lock and bull dogging someone out probably isn't going to cut it.

I'm not worried about Ross vs Merrill in folkstyle. Now come back to me in 9 months and maybe my opinion will change.

No. In folkstyle, pushing your opponent out of bounds is stalling. Dreshaun was the only one shooting, he would not have been giving up stalling points in folkstyle.
Dreshaun would've been warned multiple times . Hwt edge stalling is called differently then the other 9 weights .

Ross would've been hit with multiple stall calls for going out of bounds and probably for sitting on the mat out of bounds and resting - I didn't understand why he was sitting on the mat out of bounds multiple times unless he was out of shape.

If he puts on 15-20lbs and is in shape, he'll be fine.

My shot clock is not the timed clock in freestyle. I want a shot count clock or whatever you want to call it.

If progressive scoring attempts are rewarded, we will see more scoring or more crazy wrestling.
Are shots the only way to score in folk? Was JT's snake a shot or just a straight pinning move. Did Vega's pinning cradle on Hardy involve a shot? Do we just want shots or entertaining wrestling?

No, it’s not the only way to score.

We want entertaining competition, which gave two examples of entertainment, good for you. But, both of your examples did involve a shot.

Im even entertained watching Ferrari, but casual fans go to sleep.

However, I’m not even sure how to incite action? But I think it needs to happen.

Trying to not have things deleted 🤷 so seeing what he knows or is willing to say 😁
I don't see why it would be considered controversial considering what they were trying to get to. That and their greco careers need to be over for awhile anyway

Information gets weirdly gatekept here for some reason… the narrative is they were there and both missed weight. At this level, it’s odd that they both missed weight which is why there’s an air of conspiracy. I’m sure our insider Corby will reveal all eventually🤗

I'd heard 60 and 63kg which would be pretty tough for them at this point imo. It's not some shocker at all if that's how it all went down. Like I said, the only thing that shocks me at this point is DT greenlighting them to still go Greco with it being collegiate time. Greco and folk dont jive

The guy who got 4th this year?
Listen, I loved that Konner finished 4th but his improvement from two years ago is that he just got better at what he did before at least against good or better wrestlers and that is; don’t get taken down, have a long ride or ride out and win 2-0 or 2-1. As a lot of you have said: don’t like the style but he usually wins.

As to finishing fourth, even through orange-colored glasses, you have to see that he did not beat a higher ranked wrestler, on the mat. There is very little chance that he would have beaten DH-AJ if he hadn’t wimped out and if the bracket had held to seed, he would have been wrestling #6 Nathan Taylor (LEH) 17-5. Now, I know nothing about Taylor and how they match up but I’m just saying.

With a more wide-open offense there my be an improvement but it might also open him up for giving up more takedowns, how knows. Personally, I’m ready to move on to Ross.

I've been one of the biggest KD skeptics on this board but if got another year he might start the year ranked No. 1. He would for sure be in the top 3. If KD somehow got another year (which I doubt) it would be a massive, massive boost for OSU wrestling.

I think chances may be slim that KD gets a MS at this point. I have no clue how hard it is for Dreshaun to gain weight but after this weekend if he didnt get it before, he understands now. 20+ pounds will make a world of difference for folkstyle.

Side note: the word was this cat was weighing 235 a few weeks ago. Possibly getting in some daily RTC workouts took it off him?

Coby is a monster of a man. He'll be insane on top. Not too fast though. Misdirection and getting him off balance will be keys to taking that guy down.

Also NOT TO BE THAT GUY but I know I'm not the only one thinking it: he looks superhuman and its a lil sus

Why so cryptic with the Raneys? I guess it doesn't matter a whole lot. Should we be concerned about their buy-in?

Ross will put on weight easily when he gets in a consistent environment that helps him focus on nutrition. I am a former football player at OSU and I remember guys coming in from high school easily putting on 10-15 pounds in there first year. A couple guys specifically that remind me of Ross is a defensive end named ugo chinassa he was 6’5 219 coming in from high school. over the next couple years he got up to 265. Current cowboy jaleel and defensive end I use to coach at Putnam city north. He was 220 coming into OSU at 6’4. He’s now 265-270 range. It will happen no worries at all. He will be dominant very soon!

His arms look like Lou Ferigno. I don't believe i've ever seen a high school wrestler look like that before.

Coby is a monster, but I’m not sold on him being able to dominate guess on the mat, he's very short. Honestly I could see Ross using his length and riding Merrill before I can see coby putting a good ride on Dreshaun

That's what I was thinking. Not a lot of really short guys that are dominant riders.
