If these mothers let him off ................

According to sources, Sorsby bet on Indiana football while redshirting for the Hoosiers as a true freshman in 2022, a season in which he played in a single game as a reserve. The bets in 2022, according to sources, were on Indiana to win and none came in a game in which Sorsby appeared.

Sorsby's gambling has not drawn the attention of law enforcement, according to sources, nor has he been linked to anyone attempting to influence the outcome of a game. Sorsby's gambling, sources said, was a steady flurry of small bets over a period of time.

Betting on his own team to win (which I have zero problem with, why would anyone?) but also stating there is no link to anyone attempting to influence the outcome... right. So by that logic the entirety of the indiana team was ambivalent to the games being played?

Supposedly Pete Rose only bet on his team to win, and he got a lifetime ban from the MLB....

Different kind of situation than Ott, Iowa vacatingg 4 wins, and realize the kid has a problem but I won't be surprised if its just a hand slap. Now if I player from Iowa did that......never mind.

Baseball has it's own set of issues. Turning a blind eye to obvious steroid use as long as ratings are high, Angel Hernandez being an employable person...I really wish he were still around for the challenge system. Bucknor is doing a bang up job of filling his shoes but still.

Betting on your own team to win could be a problem if the amount varies significantly and/or there are games that you don't bet.

Seems like karma for Cody Campbell and TT who kicked the whole pay to play scheme into hyperdrive by buying that d-line for 12 million last year ....
They were rewarded with a strong season and making playoffs. Then Campbell was in trumps ear saying the BIG and SEC should share their media revenues with Big 12 and ACC.
Then they double down grabbing the top portal player sorsby for 5- 7 million.

He better never suit up for a college game or NCAA is kaput

The NCAA is furiously looking for a loophole to get this blue blood from a southern school with billionaire donors to get a slap on the wrist.
And if they do, Iowa and NS should sue them. Otherwise Iowa (and schools like them) will always be the whipping boy. I was disappointed they didn’t appeal the vacated wins, this would be another bend over and grab your ankles moment if Sorsby gets to play for TT.

I read that it took the NCAA 12 days after it was made public that Noah Shannon bet on the WBB team to suspend him for the season...
so by May 10 Sorsby should be suspended for the season.

I don't see any way out of this.

You should be right about consistency in rulings, but then I thought about Drew Ott's eligibility case.

I'm cynical enough to believe that Sorsby going to rehab will be enough to mitigate any severe penalties the NCAA will mete out. That and the bazillionares lawyers.

This should be an easy decision for the NCAA, but knowing how inconsistent they render judgments anything is possible. Stay tuned to see if money talks!
