This crap is such a cop out. I got caught gambling, I’ll go to “rehab” to save face. I got caught cheating on my wife, I’ll go to “rehab” to save face. I got caught smoking weed, I’ll go to “rehab” to save face.

My best bro of 40+ years, and who passed last year (RIP) got caught looking at porn by his wife about 10 years ago and she made him go to counseling.. and this from a girl who admits her roster was in the hundreds, and met my bro while she was still married and had an affair with him and left her then husband to marry him...but looking at porn was just too much!!! We laughed at that for years, if only she ever heard him speak about it behind her back.

Porn counseling, my god!

But wait...I was told married people are the happiest people on earth and that they would never lie. Hmmm

..and how do "residential" gambling programs differ from say,, commercial programs? Are there different tiers?

..and can you bet on his release from said program, and anyone have any idea if Sorsby placed a wager one way or the other?
Residential implies live in or in-patient treatment, usualy with a mnimum stay of 30 days, some are less, some are longer.

Oh. Im sorry. I guess the almighty Big 12 won't be winning a National title this year King Wrong.🤣
I remember last year at the same time you and every other clueless non-ball knower on this board were just positive sorsby & Cincy were a lock for 10+ wins, yours truly was making a $1,000 wager that they’d win less than 8.

All publicly documented right here.

Keep on cucking on, bitchboy

It doesn’t matter if you have a problem with it or not. Rules are set in place for this whether you have a problem with them or not or if it is a good or bad rule. He is an idiot for doing this and sabotaging his own eligibility.

I remember just a couple years ago the inbreds to the east lost their top DT for the season over a bet on the Clarkeyes to beat LSU in the Womens final. Not his team, but his school. He lost a year of eligibility, his final one.

If Soresby is not perma banned, then gamble away boys and girls.

You can't gamble if you're a NCAA athlete. $0.01 or $1,000,000.. Pretty simple
They actually have tiers for punishments. Bet on own team is a lifetime ban

Bet less than $800 on other teams, 30% of a season of eligilibility.

Bet over $800 up to a lifetime ban as long as not own team.

Soresby bet on his own team, and has well over $800 in total bets. All these guys are given the rules in detail every year.

edit: The article I posted has the numbers and punishment. I had some mistakes here.

You CAN gamble. Cards, slots etc.. Just not sports betting. The casinos around lincoln are filled with college athletes. But yes, sports betting is a no no. All other types of gambling, no problem.

I don’t think so I think this kid has a serious issue. I was talking to my cousin in Cincinnati. He was betting on Reds games not game by game but literally pitch by pitch if a ball or a strike. Thats a serious addiction.

As with all "addictions and/or problems" it really is only a problem at certain times.

It is only a gambling problem...if you are losing or married.

If it only a drinking problem...if you are married.

It is only a porn addiction...if you are married.

Maybe it's about time for all the major sports to stop supporting all of these gambling apps. You can't watch a sporting event without the non-stop bombardment of advertising. Even during the games..."this pitch sponsored by....." or giving the odds on who will hit a home run, etc.

Sports gambling should be illegal.

I realise this is all in jest, to a point, but some do have serious addictions.

With that said, this guy is either a serious pud, or cannot control himself. Not even married yet I am guessing 😉

These days gamblng in sports if you are an athlete on a team is way worse than the cocaine or other stuff from my days.

Ask Pete Rose, well think about Pete Rose. Gambling is a forever offense in sports, and needs to stay that way.

perhaps. Also sounds like he lacks personal discipline, personal accountability, and/or will power.
I also think its a cop out because why didn't he decide to enter rehab last year? or in December? Why was it until he is being investigated for gambling? From everything I've seen, he chose to go to the rehabilitation program on his own accord, so he obviously knows he has a problem. But he only enters rehab once he's been busted, which is why I say its to save face and a cop out.

I know I sound judgmental on this, but all in all, I hope he does get everything squared away and he can get past his gambling addictions. It ruins many lives and careers (any addiction at that); hopefully it hasn't cost him his football future.

Will power is a tricky thing and very difficult to harness in addiction. But I agree on the basic point of just don't do it if you have a problem. This method worked for me in 1982. It was not easy, nor fun, but neccessary and my will power was a large part, that and a cute girl that wanted little to do with my cocaine.
I quit, we had 3 children. I still have some demons, but not that one thank goodness.
